I love the Wested standard exept for the leather color.

You know, the very most basic, common Wested Raiders jacket?

the one that they had before all the Hero and Legacy jackets etc?

Except the color of the jacket itself. I can see it is brown for sure, but it's got sort of this silver or gray undertone. And sure enough any damage or weathering spots just look gray.

Do they have a different leather or leather color that's basically the same, except has a brown undertone will weather to a lighter brown?

This has to be THE most talked about topic Ive read in all my years at COW. ''The wested jackets grey undertone.'' Yes, they are grey / beige hue much because its chrome tanned and not drummed veg tanned skin.

It will age good IF you let it age naturally. Over time the greyish underbelly changes to a softer beige, light brown ,light grey ish tone. They have other skins, just call Mick up.

You can ask for a standards raiders jacket made in vegetable tanned hide.

Yep- use the 'dark brown' which turns out a nice copper brown color. Otherwise the vomit-grey underneath is hideous.

Well I'm pretty frustrated.

I'm happy to buy more jackets from Wested, but it appears me asking if they had a lighter brown has given them offense.

I emailed them asking if they had any leathers in a lighter brown. More like a medium brown or a brown like on the Disney jacket they sold recently. I sent example pictures too of the color I'm interested in (including their own shrunken lambskin I've seen with a much lighter brown) and they replied back "We sell hundreds every month with no issues so I guess we just don't have what you require"... Not sure what to do here. I WANT to buy more jackets.. I'm not saying I had an issue with their jackets I just said I'm looking for a different color.

Now that the work is farmed out to some factory in London, I think there's way less ability to experiment, customise, etc.

But can I at least rely on the shrunken lamb to be a medium/lighter brown?
