Penitent Man Leather does it again…

Post by Stefan Hills »

Michaelson look way! Kyle from Penitent Man Leather does it again. I had a Wested Last Crusade Authentic Lamb sitting in the closest for years and I never got around to distressing it because I did not have the skills to make it look natural and yet very recognizable to the distressing seen on a Crusade jacket.

Fortunately now Diego offers this on all jackets purchased from Steele & Jones but I was out of luck on the Wested jackets I own until now. When Kyle mentioned he offers this service as well in addition to his gear and since I was so impressed with his bag straps and his level of attention to detail, I did not hesitate. Best decision EVER!

I will let the pictures speak for itself, and if anyone is on the fence on how to tackle the dilemma of a brand new jacket and wanting it look lived in right out of the box, Kyle is your man. I still cannot believe the original under tones were the classic greyish that those who own a Wested will be familiar with since this jacket is not the legacy hide.

Noice, looks like my old Wested, the ol grey undertone dyed with brown leather dye.
I know, I did it to mine, my distressing was lighter, BUT Kyle did a fantastic job.
I’m one who is impatient and love to distress my jackets.

Wear that in good health, noice lookin jacket.

I actually prefer your weathering to that on the actual prop. I always felt it looked fake, especially the straight vertical scrapes on the storm flap.

Hmm, interesting post! I was always hoping that someone would offer this service for the jackets and gear in general. Although I can certainly reach out myself, just curious if there is there a degree of distressing / fee chart, etc. just out of curiosity...? :-k
