Apologies if this is discussed elsewhere, I didn’t find it.
Does someone have both Wested and any version of WPG trousers (I’m not from the UK… ) to be able to offer the pros and cons of each. This is the last piece of gear I’d like to buy. I’d love to get some Magnoli ones but $260+…Even $150+ for the Wested is a lot. So as you can tell I’d be angling for the WPG. Im concerned about the pockets in back, the pics make it look like there practically touching the front pockets on the WPG site. Plus WPG has been less than helpful about their different versions’ differences, color fabric, etc. Any help is appreciated.
I know (from previous comments in COW [about WPG]) one of them is considered to be heavier weight material, and thick where it is stitched- especially the waist. The other two are lighter weight, one a newer version. Looking at them, the difference is probably more in the colors used. I bought the older light weight pants and like them a lot.
I emailed WPG to ask the difference between the 2015 style and 2019 version. What I received back is this: 'Better fabric and color.' Short and sweet.
I recently ordered a new pair of the WPG pants and did not care for them. I have a pair of the WPG light pants that are no longer available. I found the new ones to be very different from the older ones. The color was different. The button fly was longer and the crotch and seat area seemed significantly baggier. I prefer a trimmer cut. I returned the pants......Regarding the color of the new WPG pants...they are closer to the Wested color in the pic at the top of the post. They more brownish. The older WPG were closer to the other pairs of pants in the pic. I prefer the older color but that is just me. It is not based on screen accuracy. I am not an expert in that area.
I did see those, thanks. They don't seem to address my questions. Rear pocket placement and fabric variations between the WPG options. Some of that is touched on but I was wondering how they compare to each other and Wested...if that's not too tall an order. In fact one of those quotes is from me!
Very much in the 'similar' camp rather than replicas, but these from Bronson are a 30's pleated cut and very cheap (not quite the right colour or fabric though): https://bronsonshop.com/products/1930s- ... 2050001056" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But if you're a fan of 30s/40s US military style there are plenty of affordable things on there.
