Herbert Johnson Seaplane Grey

Post by The Aviator »

Hi all

I’ve searched but haven’t found anything, has anyone bought the seaplane grey beaver from HJ? What are your thoughts?

From HJs online posts it looks like a solid match from Raiders, given this was a very contentious subject at a time I thought it would have had more impact here.

I’ve contacted HJ and Lockdown in England and Covid permitting I hope to get in for a fitting in spring, it may also overlap with the Legacy Raiders option, so could be an expensive trip...

Best

After the answer was finally given by Spielberg during the production of CS as to why he had two different hat colors, let alone finally confirming there WERE two different hat colors, that subject was finally put to rest back in 2008. ;)

Oh I know it was an old but settled question but I thought an offering from HJ that attempted to recreate the colour might pique some interest.

I’m getting into London when Covid settles down, hopefully May/June, they offered a fitting with their in store hatter so I’m looking forward to it.

I have to say their customer service is second to none, and a vast vast improvement to what it was - Long may it continue. I bought an Optimo Panama from them last summer and it’s great.

I’ll post some pictures and a review when I get my hands on the Seaplane.
