MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Well it's that time of year (unfortunately) and the hunt for the Shawl neck Cardigan begins.
Indy Magnoli
https://www.magnoliclothiers.com/wyomin ... p-292.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Has by the far the best match and one day I'll own one.
But for now I search a close enough, I've done some searches, with some possibility's.
I was wondering who else out there has also been searching.
Here's a couple with my version from ROOTS, just seems a tad long.

Re: MOTB ANUAL THREAD
I REALLY need to get my bifocals adjusted! I could have SWORN this subject title said 'MOTHBALL THREAD'.
Excellent study, as usual, my friend!
Unfortunately, it's NEVER that cold in my location to use funds to locate one of those sweaters. I'd never USE it down here.
HIGH regards! Michaelson

Re: MOTB ANUAL THREAD
The length of most sweaters is an issue. Being cold weather sweaters (aren't they all?) most shawl neck sweaters tend to be longer.
That's why I'm so happy with my one from Magnoli. I provided him the length of my Wested when I ordered and was able to have the sweater length custom made so it doesn't hang out the bottom of the jacket.
Regards,
Indiana Jeff

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Looks great!
Any thoughts/leads on the MOTB gloves and scarf?
I live in a place where it DOES get cold enough to invest in winter IJ gear. I have a pair of Raider's gloves, but they don't really help with the cold. Just excavating stuff and driving hijacked trucks.

Magnoli also offers a Wyoming Scarf.
Here is an old thread discussing the gloves.

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Thanks for the lead on the Magnoli scarf, and for sharing the old gloves thread. I went through it and it seems that all of the links have expired in the past 10 years - both for the gloves recommendations folks have and also for the screen caps they're referencing. If you have any current recommendations that'd be much appreciated!Indiana Jeff wrote:Magnoli also offers a Wyoming Scarf.

Basically I'm looking for fur lined dark brown leather gloves? Any other important details?

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
I think fur lined dark brown or black leather gloves are as close of a consensus that was ever reached.

I like the cardigan IndianaCroft and overall I think that's a great look
I too have a shawl cardigan which is a smidge too long and hangs lower than my jacket. I'd also love a Magnoli one but right now don't have the spare cash to splash out that much on a new one.

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Still poking around for good MOTB gloves, but found these which seem like winter friendly Raider's Gloves!

Adventure Dog :
Mine too, hoping someone has better luck in searching than I seem to.
And I've seen that one to, it just doesn't look dark brown enough, but it's a contender.

There once was someone on evilbay, but based on there size chart, I'd need a small and they never went that small.
Stay safe everyone, Croft

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Croft, you inspired me this morning
Nippy here with 2 Celsius and wind, and although I didn't go the whole hog, for the school run I was drawn to wear my shawl collar cardigan and Raiders jacket combination with suitable scarf of course. Not very screen accurate to MOTB but Raiders gloves as well.

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
All in variation Smithy, all in variation.
And I'm glad I gave inspiration to someone.
I wear a Indy jacket, shirt and Fedora A LOT to work, they are oblivious to my attire, which is fine by me. Oh I get the Indy reference on occasion, but if they only new to what extent, they'd probably would take that as open season, which would ruin it for me.
I spend a lot on the gear and wear it when ever I can. It is after all clothing and not cheap nock off.
I won't pair the shirt with the pants, because that'd be to close to the mark.
Stay safe, Croft

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Might not be what Indy wore onscreen Croft but I've always thought when the weather got cooler, I could imagine him wearing Tattersall shirts with his trademark trousers. Plus side is that Tattersall shirts go very, very well with a pair of Indy pants...trust me on thisIndiana Croft wrote: I won't pair the shirt with the pants, because that'd be to close to the mark.

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
I love that this thread is a thing because it's predictable.
Every year when it gets cold the MOTB cardigan comes up. Just like when it gets warm, straw fedora's comes up.
Perfect.

I get most of my Tattersalls from Samuel Windsor now as their pricing is great and the quality excellent.

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Ok, I was thinking solid colors, but this would be a change for me.
Most patterned shirts I wear are flannel. And they'd go with Indy pants too.
Thanks fo r lead.

A tattersall shirt is a great combo with my bulky winter sweaters (Aran Island, British commando, shawl collar cardigan), as they're a bit scratchy otherwise. My good-luck shirt is an old tattersall that I wear with a vintage peppercorn tweed jacket that I inherited from Dad. I see some new shirts in my future. According to missus Nosirrah, it's about time.

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
Few years ago I bought a nice wool cardigan from H&M. This is how it looks with big star chinos and Magnoli Indy shirt.

Re: MOTB ANNUAL THREAD
That's a great tip! Just checked their website, and it looks like they have some good options - particularly because the sweaters look short so won't stick out the bottom of the jacket. The color is pretty light, though. Perhaps it'd be worth picking up one of these and then using RIT to dye it a darker brown!
