Wested TOD current offering

Post by Han Jones »

So it’s been awhile since I’ve ordered from wested. Are they doing the customization that they used to? Are the proper TOD pleats the standard now? Not looking to send a list by any means.

Gotcha. Wested seems pretty inconsistent, like a roll of the dice, so as to your pleat question... maybe?

A bit of nostalgia for the old days comes into play also

You already have a S&J and still want a Wested? okay.....

From what I've heard Wested still does custom but you'll always have to send in a long list of specifications. (there is no Hero TOD as there is Raiders and LC).

And at the end of the day I've always and consistently heard that Wested is hit or miss. And that reputation has been constant for the past 20+ years from everything I've read even my own experience.

You can probably get exactly what you want if you have constant contact and talk with X person all the time. Whoever X is now, I'm not sure.

I'd go S&J or Magnoli for a perfect TOD but that's just me. :TOH:

I got a Wested ToD size 42 off the rack, came in a couple of days. I'm no expert on the specs. Based on photos of the actual Noel Howard - yoke, pockets, zipper, sleeve circumference and cut look correct, the side vent is not quite right - they have the general idea but as in previous versions it's missing a little strip of leather along the flap. Buckles are squared off but not accurate. Not a deal breaker for me, but it will annoy some. The lamb seems moderately thick and robust.

I remember the days when Wested offered a Raiders as a ToD jacket but with altered length.

Wested are doing the correct ToD pattern with the pleats now (more or less as CM mentions above). Even on their OTR version.

Of course you'll get 100% perfect accuracy with Bill Kelso and Steele and Jones.

My two cents. Steel &Jones has a ToD what I call a hero jacket if ever there was one. Yes there is a lead time, but it’s well worthwhile. In the end you’ll be happier. You have a jacket to wear while you wait. So what’s the rush.

If this hobby has taught us anything it’s patience.

I have a truck chase version on order and it’s getting closer and closer.

I have two on every version of each jacket from almost every vendor we have since 2003. I just was looking for a non distressed goat TOD with a quick turnaround. Steel and Jones is the current go to no doubt.

I can't say anything about S&J's current TOD jacket, but I've had one in the past... it was really nice, but the leather wasn't quite right. It was a little too "pleather-like." However, I've heard that they changed leathers, so there's that...

But personally, I'd go with a BK TOD. I got mine about 6 weeks ago and it's INCREDIBLE!!
