Getting in Touch with Marc

Apologies if this is dealt with elsewhere - I emailed Marc on Sunday about ordering an AB Henry and haven't heard any response. Should I try again, or is this normal response time? I used the info@adventurebilt.com email address - is there a better way to reach him? :-k Regards,

This is the website info for his contact.
Not of the status with the email.

Yeah, I think the first address you used was for Steve Delk's old site, not ABDeluxe, which is Marc's shop.

Actually, on the contact page I posted, its the same email address. I thought he had a more direct contact too.

It is? Yours has the word 'deluxe' in the address.
His link doesn't.
That's what I was referring to. Actually, on Steve's current page, the email address is now for Penman, so it's all confusing.

Hmm...when I open up the link on the AB Deluxe site, it lists the email without "deluxe" in it. Does anyone have a better email address for Marc? Would a COW PM work better?

Also, while browsing, I saw a post from BendingOak saying the Henry is no longer available. Is this true? All this is my way of saying "yeah, I'm confused too!"

I think it's still available through Marc. :-k

Yep, try him via PM too.

Couldn't hurt.

Done. Although according to his profile he was last active on COW in 2014, so I'm not holding my breath on the PM...

I can shed a little light on this situation. Both Marc and Stefan are currently taking a break from ABD to focus on their personal situations at the moment.

Anyone heard anything from Marc? Looking to get a Henry

Yes, I eventually heard from them from info@adventurebilt.com, but it took a few days. If you don't hear back from them in a week, send another email. They'll get back to you. :TOH:

Do you know if he is still making the Henry's? And what's the time window for one?

It wasn't clear to me that they're still making them, but Stefan did say that most sizes are still available. :TOH:

Just pm'd Stefan. Hopefully something'll come up :) If nothing comes up, does anyone know the felt difference (in terms of velvetty texture) between the Advintage and the Henry?

You might want to email them, rather than use PM - my impression was that they're not on COW as much anymore.

Yup! Sorry didn't specify I clicked the email button on Stefan's profile instead of the pm button.

Not sure if that will send it to info@adventurebilthats.com though...

My mistake! I just checked the email again and it should be info@adventurebilt.com

Seems I accidentally added "hats" to the email address...

It's just like he said they took some time off, I talked with Stefan in April and he was returning from a trip to Colombia, hopefully they'll be back in business soon enough.

Stefan got back to me, and let me know a size 60cm (small) gray Henry was available. Thankfully my head is below that, so I ordered it! So far both times I have received an email from him it took 3 days each time, but contact kept :)

He said that he had one on hand, which is the one that I ordered.

Does anyone know how long it should take for it to ship? And do they email you letting you know it shipped?

I had my hat reblocked a size too big. Last I heard from them was Stefan in October 2016 that they were taking a break. I desperately want it reblocked a size smaller, no matter the cost. I thought about asking Penman, but a long time ago, Marc said that if anyone else ever worked on my hat, he'd never touch it again. Anyone have any recent luck with Marc or Stefan?

Interesting ultimatum coming from Marc. :-s

If he's the hold up, then why tell you that? It's your hat.

You need to determine what YOU need and what you can expect regarding customer 'after sales service' in a timely manner, unless you have a closet full of hats and you can afford to wait on Marc to get back online.

That's a very surprising statement coming from Marc. :-k

He knows folks can't just sit on their hands waiting for them to come back 'when they're ready' when their costumer has a product in use.

If not, drop John Penman a line with photos of your hat and ask for his input.

JMO, but one I've done myself when I had a vendor essentially 'suggest' the same thing when asked for some rebuild work to be done after a sale. I went elsewhere and have not looked back.

Chiming in, I also think that when Marc made his statement about not working on a hat if someone else has worked on it, he wasn't thinking of Penman: John's been almost a student of Steve and Marc, and they've both (or at least Steve has) acknowledged him as their equal. I really can't imagine that Marc would object to the maker of the Adventurebilt Legacy working on another Adventurebilt. Nevertheless, you might want to check with him and basically ask if he would he object to you sending it to John, since he's not up to making hats at the moment.

I sent a similar request a few days ago via Marc's website, as I'd measured wrong years ago, and would like to stop having to pad the hat out. No reply as of yet. I'm surprised, if they're taking a break, it isn't mentioned on their website. Of course, now I have an excuse to buy another hat, to keep me going, as it were. :)

Last I heard, Marc's still on a break. I placed an order with him several years ago before he "retired," and though he offered a refund the last time we corresponded, I told him to hold on to the funds for when he comes out of retirement.

From what I've heard, he's a man of his word, so I'm assuming until further notice, his hat has been hung up.

Glad I'm not the only one having trouble. I'll get my name on Penman's list for a reblock. Not sure what to think anymore about Marc or Stefan. Just leaving me hang there with no response, nothing on their website.....

Sitting rabbit. Call John Penman. He still has some of the same hat bodies that Marc used. The FEPSA felt.

Probably just as well.

Getting things in and out of country is pretty much at a stand still now if you use USPS due to the pandemic.
You have no clue if or even when it would reach Marc, let alone if they'd do anything with it.

Good luck, and let us know how your hat turns out!

Regards! Michaelson

I’d still like to get my Deluxe re-blocked and and sizes, I did a terrible measuring job. Nicest hat I own and it never gets worn. Anyone know anyone in the UK doing hat work, outside of Herbert Johnson?
