Question about pecards changing jacket color?

Post by LANDINGPARTY »

I recently used pecards on my wested hero. I noticed the jacket turned a darker color then more or less changed back to its original color. Some areas however are still darker and I think I went a little heavy in those areas. Will it eventually lighten up or is my jacket ruined? Thanks

Assuming you are using the standard Pecards your experience is pretty typical. Upon first application the leather will tend to look darker, but will return to the original color once the Pecards soaks in/'dries'.

As different parts of the jacket will age/distress/break-in differently, there may be areas that will change color a bit with the application since the Pecards will be absorbed differently in those areas.

I wouldn't say your jacket is ruined by any means, it's just showing it's developing character.

You can try buffing the darker areas with a clean white t-shirt and that may help remove some more of the residual cream and help the leather lighten a bit.
