Does one have to take it out, or is there a product one can buy to clean it. The one on my AB is in good condition, but feels a little, tacky.
I did try doing a search using "sweat band", tried "sweat", tried "cleaning" but nothing looked like it was addressing what I wanted, just something just clean the inside portion of the sweat band.
Lexol makes a leather cleaner that works pretty well and is not as harsh as alcohol. Other places sell something similar.
I use a saddle cream conditioner that I buy from Corbin for motorcycle leather. It's probably made by Pecards but it does a nice job of conditioning leather sweatbands.
Keep in mind, alcohol sanitizes as well. Lexol does not. Just a thought. Regard! Michaelson
I thought the process was clean with rubbing alcohol, but no elbow grease, just get the grime off.
Then hit it once with some lexol.
Is this correct.

Alcohol takes all kinds of greases (and sometimes dyes, hence the no elbow grease) off of leather, but it also dries out the natural oils that keep the leather supple. So they need to be replaced with your product of choice...

Since the question has been asked and answered, let alone there being a stickied thread on this very topic posted in the gear care section and linked here, I'm going to close this one now.
