Wested raiders lamb jacket creases

Post by pdraycott »

Hi
Got caught in a torrential downpour today, jacket got soaked but I shook most of the
Water off and then left the jacket on when I got back to my car.
After I arrived home I noticied all the back of the jacket has creases on it. Any idea how to get rid of them or do you think it adds to the Indy look?

If you want to get rid of them, I'd get the back of the jacket wet and then wear it while it dries, or stretch it out a bit with your hands to take out the creases and then let it dry flat. Afterwards, I would condition it with the leather conditioner of your choice. I personally would recommend Lexol. :TOH:

As it's a Wested lamb, I wouldn't worry about needing to do anything. Once you've worn it a couple of times and hung it up, the creases will disappear. I know, I tried desperately to get my Wested lamb to HOLD creases! But they always went away again leaving the jacket looking like new. ;)

Thanks for that guys. I left it over night on a hanger but creases still there. I will give it a week or two and then try wetting it. I have been waiting to let it weather naturally but I think these creases are too much.

...just me talking here, but I'd just wear it and consider it 'character' marks. Each jacket, as it ages, carries with it its own unique history that none other can tell, and the owner acquires these unique marks as you go adventuring, take trips, or are just living life. It is part of what seperates your jacket from someone elses. ;)

After having seen the photos, I have to say don't do anything. I think it looks great and will only continue to get better.

I don't see anything there to be concerned about. With wear any sharp creases will relax.

Thanks for all your comments. I think I will leave it as is. I've not been on here very long but I have found it full of some very nice people.
Some of you have been on here for ages and your comments really are appreciated.

I'm currently waiting for my Akubra Federation and some Lands End Crosby Boots to add to my indy gear. Afraid Im only just starting at 40 years young!

Compared to my old lamb Wested LC, that's nothing. Mine looks like it was run over (numourous times) by tanks! Yours looks great! They just add more to the charactor of the jacket and as you wear it more and more -- more charactor will attach itself to it! Enjoy the aging, that's how it becomes -- you and not just another jacket off the rack :) ! W>

But a guy can iron leather or use a steamer to get wrinkles out. it's tricky, but basically it's like steaming out any type of garment.

If you choose the iron, use a damp rag on top, set the iron low to start and kinda steam and press then gently tug by hand and steam and press again with the iron until you have it back to where you want it. Important to stretch by hand because leather shrinks with steam...the stretching prevents that somewhat and keeps it soft.

The same if you use a steamer. Steam it and pull the wrinkles out.

Just my opinion and what I've done.

Why would anyone want to gently iron out the wrinkles in a leather jacket??????

Yeah, after seeing them, I have to agree with the crowd. Just character as far as I can see. My jacket has been used as a pillow on dusty buses, thrown into the back of trucks, rained on, sat on...well, you get the picture. Mine's got creases, let's just leave it at that. :) And I love every single one of them.

That being said, if you just wear it normally I'd be very surprised if they didn't mellow quite a bit.

I have similar creases in my jacket from the snow in february. Tried to iron them out but it didn't work. I have grown to love them. I wouldn't bother trying to fix it, with a lamb you will get creases just from sitting down too long :)
