Noisy Leather

Post by Bogie1943 »

Greetings all,

I own a wonderful A-2 flight jacket in horsehide. It's been one of my favorite jackets and one I will never sell due to great sentimental value. There is only one minor problem, it is rather on the noisy side. I've been an avid user of Pecards for years. However, the normal leather treatment doesn't relieve the leather noise. Would any of you have some suggested treatments that might crank the volume down a bit?

Cheers!

I'd try some lexol. Pecards leaves a waxy coating on the jacket (what its supposed to do) and this seems to amplify the noise. Whereas Lexol lubricates and eases the friction where the leather touches. I've had good results in similar situations using this method. Good luck! :TOH:

Received my first bottle of Lexol the other day and have finally applied it to two of my jackets and my 403's. Let me say right off that applying this conditioner is a much more pleasant experience than Pecard's. Not knocking Pecard's, I have used it for years and love it. However, as you know it is rather greasy. After all it is sort of a grease. Lexol is a nice milky liquid that is easy to apply and does not leave much of a sticky feeling on the leather or ones hands. Lexol leaves the leather feeling very soft to the touch moments after application. The best news of all is that the majority of the noise has disappeared. Time will tell once the conditioner has had proper time to soak in.

Thus far I am very pleased with this leather conditioner. Thanks to all who have recommended it!

We were recommending Lexol as long if not longer than Pecards, believe it or not. ;)
