i got the opportunity to snatch a HB Poet at a real bargain price, but as it's advertised to be a 60 cm, i wondered how the HB usually run. Big, small or spot on ?
If it's a modern HJ, I often found them to be reasonably generous in size. I'm actually a size 59, but with HJs (new, mind you!) I found a 58 more comfortable. I guess you will know for sure when it arrives.
it's a modern HJ, so i assume the cm would be a tad too generous for my noggin.
too bad.
but then again, modern HJ's aren't considered to be real quality fedoras, so i'm maybe not missing that much...
I'm a size 59 and I ordered a size 59 from AdVintage Fedora. It was a tiny bit loose in the beginning but the sweatband has shrunk a bit since then and it fits me very well. can't be more happier with it to be honest.
Yeah, I could see the hat slightly shrinking over time, very similar to Christy's Adventurer. I read somewhere that they use the same felt these days, just block it differently. Of course, there's always the "I have a Herbert Johnson Poet" aspect to owning one, and even if you only wear it once in a blue moon, if it's a great price, why not?
