Its a size 44, with nine specific requests, including a 1.5 inch collar stand and a modified collar angle (which I think are the key to the LC collar). I think Peter did a fantastic job on the collar and the pockets and I'm quite happy with the jacket. Thanks to Tremolo for telling me his unique approach to drafting up the specs on his custom LC. If any of you are considering ordering a LC from Wested, Peter's cranking out some really good ones lately. PM me if you're interested in my special requests (which I'll be happy to share).
I love it, the jacket looks awesome! I´m glad that I could help you a little bit.
The collar looks really great and the bigger collar stand really seems to work for the look. The leather is novapelle, right?
Congrats on this fantastic looking LC jacket!
Wow, that is some awesome Jacket indeed. Truly Peter can do magnificent job when he want it. Novapelle Antique Wested LC Jacket should be mine next jacket.
2. Storm Flap:width 1.75” [it came back a little wider]
3. Add ½” to overall width of your usual LC collar [from Tremolo]
4. Apply only .25” taper from front to back of collar [from Tremolo]
5. Increase angle of collar point to 60 degrees (current pattern is about 51 degrees) [Note: I then attached diagram and attached photo collage. The collar on the new jacket came back at 55 degrees]
6. Collar stand extending about ¼-way onto storm flap if possible
7. Pockets: 7” wide x 8” tall (to top of flap), with pocket flap proportions looking like diagram I attached [came back with precise measurements]
8. Pocket placed approx. 2.5” from jacket bottom
9. No hem stitch on bottom of jacket
My thanks to Peter for a great job on the jacket.
Best of luck to you COW members if you order one of these.
Awesome jacket, I'm not the biggest LC jacket fan but that looks real good for S/A in cut and shape. The color of the leather is what I like most about it.
Thanks for the comments. If any of you order one of these, request that the collar stand extends at least part way onto the top of the storm flap. I requested that, but it just meets on mine. Doesn't bother me, however, as I plan to train the top corner of the flap to bend open slightly.
Holt, I live so far north that there's never daylight when I'm at home at this time of year.
St. Dumas, what's the waiting period like for wested now a days?? I remember in 2002-2003 it was around a month or so for a custom jacket. Is that still the case?? Ever since I've gotten rid of my indy jackets I've always felt something was missing and I think it's time to get it back.
Wow, that´s pretty fast.
I have to say I really really like the look of the 1.25" collar stand. This jacket shows again that a well thought and short special requests list gets you what you want. Congrats again on getting such a beautiful jacket St. Dumas!
they have. They have a mid brown and a dark rbown. I have two samples. It does not have striations tho. its just shrunken so it gets that shrunken grain but without the ribbmarks. its veg tanned.
I also know Peter have a skin that he said looked 400 years old but he did not have big enough panels to make the backpanels out of. so it just sits there. too bad.
I absolutely love them pocket flaps!
You never see a Wested LC with scalloped flaps. They are always triangular.
Those look much better.
Actually you do see them scalloped from Wested (just not always). But this example is SA to the LC movie jacket the scalloping is rounded and subtle and the flap is extra long. Just like the film.
The main difference is that the LC movie jacket does not have piping on teh top of the flap.
That is one AWESOME jacket!!! Now take some steel wool, sandpaper, leather dressing, etc. and give it the complete jones_the_whip LC treatment! I dare ya!
Whipwarrior, I'd be a complete novice at distressing. Although I wasn't planning on distressing the jacket, if I change my mind, I'm sending it to you. I've seen your work.
No no, my work PALES in comparison to jones_the_whip. Send it to HIM!!! You won't be disappointed. Realistically, I would be way too nervous to distress a jacket that I didn't own, fearing that I might accidentally go too far with it.
can we see some more pitures of this jacket? maby on you and from a distance. full front shot? Back shot and side shot. I am very eager to see more of this jacket!
