Leather Tailor for jacket alterations

Post by Whithead »

Can anybody recommend a good leather alterations person?

Shipping is okay but I'm in CT if there is one close to there...

I need to have the sleeves on my Wested jacket tapered and am not really looking to send the coat across across the pond unless there's no other choice...

Thanks!

You don't need anyone specialized in leather, if that's the problem. Most tailors can handle it. Even many dry cleaners offer the service. If you've already tried that, then I haven't a clue. :(

I've posted this before, so if you've read it, don't mind me. ;)

Check around any locations that have a military base of some kind. They usually have a tailor shop that specializes in work on uniforms and jackets for un-married service men and women who don't like to, or can't sew.

They are a natural for working on leather jackets, and usually do a great job, as their services have to meet muster for the military.

I'm glad somebody asked this question, I've been thinking of having the same thing done.

I wouldn't have mentioned it if I hadn't had first hand personal experience with such a tailor, my friend. ;)

We have an Air Force base near my place of work. There is a private shop in the nearby town of Manchester who has done some WONDERFUL work for me on leather jackets in the past, and that also does all the mending and tailoring for the military personnel at the base.
