My interview with Deborah Nadoolman.

I got this interview four or five years ago with Mrs.Nadoolman-Landis and was fortunate enough that she had plenty of time. There is well over an hour of tape and a variety of questions were asked, starting with how she got into costume design, her early career and of course, her work on Raiders and a bit beyond.

What is writen is verbatim. There were times when she would go off on a tangent or two in between relaying some of her account of the jacket inception, so that sort of thing skipped over and omitted. Still, every word is verbatim to the sections of the interview which are posted here.

There has been so much recent traffic concerning the history of the Raiders jacket and so much has changed in such short amounts of time that it became very confusing to try to keep up with any new info. This made me think of the interview I conducted and I went back to the tapes to see what Mrs.Nadoolman had to say, recalling she had spoken about the jackets, her recollection of the creation of them, and delivery of them to the production.

None of what is writen is my opinion but her recollection of events which she was part of. They are her words and hers alone. Take them for what you will. Both Rick5150 and Indyblues have listened to sections of the tapes and if anyone doubts the validity of them I would be more than happy to share it with anyone else as well for confirmation. Rick is working on getting some snippets up on-line so that everyone can get a listen if you wish.

Since this is being hosted at Filmjackets.com I only took the snippets of the interview that had to do specifically with the jacket and this is what was transcribed. Someday I hope to transcribe the entire interview as Mrs.Nadoolman-Landis was a very friendly and insightful person and it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to speak with her.

As I posted on Film-Jackets

Thank you for sharing that.
There are some similarities and some differences with her interview that is posted on TheRaven.net. Most have probably read that.
I wonder what the difference in time the two interviews occurred is?

I've asked Mike to see if he can find the old John Bickel 2002 interview of DN that used to be posted on the mainpage before the update. It was posted on the mainpage for years. It should prove interesting to compare with your interview, '5'.

I find it interesting that she still thinks Ford was wearing Redwing boots. :-k
