My MOTB

Post by knibs7 »

It snowed today which is uncommon where I live, and I figured it was the perfect opportunity to get a couple of shots of my MOTB gear.

I did one with both versions. Hopefully y'all can figure out what I'm talking about

I always wondered if the walkie-talkie instead of the holster was any reference to SS changing the guns to walkie talkies in E.T? Hmmmm :-k Anyway... Kyle, gear looks awesome. The jacket in the 2nd picture looks amazing (even though its the same jacket in both, its just the lighting). Your distressing work on it surely paid off.

Tundrarider wrote:Great shots, Kyle!!! I have to agree with TheExit148 about the jacket. Your distressing skills are outstanding and you certainly are qualified to be our on site gear distresser! :notworthy:

BTW you do this "look" better than Harrison did!!! But in Harrison's defense, he looks horrible in the full beard, which really detracted from the look for me. ;)

Michael :TOH:
Thanks Michael!
And I'm sure Harrison would have preferred to have the Indy stubble, but couldn't exactly shave right in the middle of filming The Fugitive.

It's hard to tell, are you wearing a sweater under your jacket or just the scarf?

And do tell, from where did you get the scarf (and sweater if applicable).

So Kyle, with the recent winter weather steaming it's way across the country, have you had more snow in your neck of the woods for that "trudge through a snow drift" look? :D

Thanks guys!
My hat is a Christie's with a LC bash. (My AB is with Steve getting a new bash right now)
Let's see, what else...

Jacket is a Wested custom LC in authentic brown lamb.
Shirt is a NH LC
Pants are also NH
Tie is just a black irish poplin officer's tie
Cardigan- Land's End
Scarf- Ralph Lauren (Cream/Light Tan color)
Gloves- Jos A Bank
Belt- Wade
Holster- custom LC
Boots- Alden 405s
and last but nowhere near least...

Whip- mid 90s DM 10 ft

I think that's it. Let me know if you have any questions. :TOH:

Liking the images and the snow. Best thing about these months is the coming cold and snow (I can do without the wind).

I have been working on distressing my Wested and am inspired by your work.

We should all meet up in Jackson, Wy for a Indy Trek/adventure and find some nice snow drifts to run through.

Cheers

DHW, I have the beard now, but at the time I had only gone about 3 days without shaving and then the random snow occured

Sebastian Arms, thank you for the kind words and I would 100% totally be up for all of us getting together in Jackson Hole! :D

knibs7 et al.

We have a ski condo in Jackson and I would love to plan a winter get together there next year if anybody is interested. The major caveat is the weather and if you would be willing to handle Wyoming in the winter (Can be nasty). Jackson is a great place to ski and snowshoe and there is a wonderful wilderness art museum overlooking the elk wintering grounds-would be a good place to have an Indy event.

Anyone interested in this sometime next year?

Actually, I thought the talkie WAS supposed to be seen, but the holster wasn't. I thought GL deliberately made it a talkie instead to be more family friendly. :-k Because if you look closely through the CG snow, you can clearly see Harrison wearing the Webley holster.

Regardless, jnicktem, yes it IS sad, really sad

I think our friends along the mid-Atlantic and moving northward got more than they bargained for if they wanted MOTB snow conditions. I hope all travelers and those staying home are safe.

Yup! Well, I'm 90% sure I'm gonna get a TN. I have pretty much given up on Wested because no matter how perfect the specs are that I give them, they always seem to miss something.

I do love THIS jacket though because (not trying to brag at ALL, but  ) I pretty much nailed the distressing of the LC look

Knibs7,

Yea we did get lots of snow in Virginia-so if you need some more this year come on out. Good sledding and snowshowing weather and my kids got out of school two days earlier for their Christmas vacation.

As far as the Jackson meet up (can I say summit?). I am looking into some details and then I thought I would post it as a separate interest thread. I cannot commit to anything this winter, I was thinking more of the 10/11 winter season. I am going to try and make it to another gathering to see how they work. My tentative plan is to have a couple historical/nature tours as we have lots of contacts with the park service and have a dinner/party/movie night at the National Wildlife Museum. I don't know, maybe we can play some blues or have Willie sing us a song. Anyway, let me get a few things looked into and I will post in the right section.

Take care and enjoy the holidays,

Sebastian
