My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!! (finally with pics on!!)
I bet you are wondering what the heck I am talking about.
When I was at the summit I spent some time drooling over the vintage goat and decided that was the leather I wanted for my next Nowak. Tony took the measurements and compared his with my LC that I had ordered over the phone. He decided to tweak the original measurements...
Anyway... when I made it back to Vancouver I asked him if he could add a funky pocket that I had noticed in his orange jacket - it had a zipper. He was surprised that I had noticed this in his jacket and told me that it was his TNIP "Tony Nowak Immigrant Pocket" - apparently my Indy is the first to have such a feature. It's not SA but it's something practical that I wanted to have and today it arrived. The jacket is begging for me to abuse it. At the moment it's hanging and I will be taking pics soon enough of it... so until then I will be the first to post...
;0
They will be forthcoming - I love my TNIP

Re: My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!!
I am excited to see the vintage or "homeless" goat. I was very close to getting that leather, it was between "happy" cow and "homeless" goat. I went wit the happy cow, but I cannot wait to see the vintage goat. I'm sure it looks fantastic!
And enjoy the immigrant pocket!

If you go to filmjackets.com, and look in Jacket Reviews, you will see a good review of some hard worn Vintage goat with some photos

Could it be an internal zipper you're referring to? If so, looks like you beat Michaelson to it!

Re: My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!!
Here is the vintage goat out of the bag and on a hangar
Back view of the goat
And the TNIP pocket - it's a very cool feature - I don't care if it's SA or not. I like the idea of having a pocket that can be zipped up when I'm packing my passport etc....
Finally the weird shot. As I was taking the jacket off the door I dropped it. It stayed standing up - It is an amazing hide - soft yet strong - I think it has a mind of its own. I couldn't resist snapping this shot as it "sat" there begging for me to wear it.
I will get some pics with it on in the next couple days or so.

It is the shiny goat - though it's not as shiny in real life as the pic with flash is making it out to be.

Understood.
You need to really put some wearing into it. That hide will look fantastic with breaking in. (not that it doesn't look great now)

Well done, I really like that idea! Though aren't two pockets, one on top of the other, kinda overkill? I was waiting for someone to do something like this, but I didn't think anyone would have enough guts to do away with that SA look. But now that we get to see what it looks like, and it looks pretty wicked, I have a feeling you're starting a trend, Nick!
Re: My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!! (Pics in the Posts)
Its a great feature to have for sure. Magnoli places those on his jackets also

I've had those zippered inside pockets installed on my Westeds for well over a decade now. I wonder if one could be put on my jacket now, since it's currently in his shop?Castor Dioscuri wrote:Could it be an internal zipper you're referring to? If so, looks like you beat Michaelson to it!

The vintage goat seems to be a leather of many shades. Could you include some close-ups in those future pictures?
Terrific jacket, by the way.

I think it would be easy enough for Tony to add to yours Michaelson - He was very pleased to be asked to add it to mine.Michaelson wrote:I've had those zippered inside pockets installed on my Westeds for well over a decade now. I was aware that Magnoli offfered zipped pockets - I was meaning this was the first Nowak to have it done - Tony explained to me the origin of his TNIP - he said he did it to his jacket that he came over to North America in to protect his money -- everything he had of value went in there. I like that pocket and I am all about overkill

I know jacket makers offer zippered inside pocket(s).

It's important to note there are two vintage goat skins, one shiney and one dull finish. They present slightly differently even after worn in.Raskolnikov wrote:The vintage goat seems to be a leather of many shades. Could you include some close-ups in those future pictures?

Yup Magnoli's have a zipped pocket above another pocket plus an un-zippered pocket on the other sideRCSignals wrote:Two pockets like that? one zippered right above the other?Rikimaru wrote:Its a great feature to have for sure. Magnoli places those on his jackets also

Good to know. I thought they had a zippered pocket over a smaller cell phone pocket.
Re: My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!! (Pics in the Posts)
Sorry mate - I'm causing confusion here - it is a smaller pocket - maybe a large cell phone pocket or a small wallet pocket! It's the same basic configuration as the TN here but slightly smaller...
Re: My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!! (Pics in the Posts)
Just a beautiful jacket. I love the vintage goat and RC is right that it breaks in wonderfully. The zippered pocket is a great idea as well!
Well done all around!

I have been wearing the jacket all week and it just gets better and better. I am getting compliments on the jacket (4 women so far) and the smell as well - nothing like a leather smell to rouse the senses. I will get some shots of it on soon.
I am digging this goat. It's my favorite jacket now.

that jacket just oozes with character. congrats nick. i've got a sample of that goat as well as the non-shiney goat and i know how tuff that stuff is. i put a slice in the sample and then tried to tear it......couldn't do it. maybe i could of, if i had _'s arms but i don't think you could rip that stuff in normal circumstances
i always thought that the shiney goat would make a killer surrogates jacket....good to see that it rocks on an indy. enjoy

Re: My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!! (Pics in the Posts)
Nick, that Vintage Goat is awesome. I mentioned it at the summit, but it has almost the exact same color and consistency of my Aero Horsehide, and when I walk around in that thing I feel virtually bulletproof. That one also stands up on its own, even though I've had it for a few years now and have 'broken it in'. Tony has ruined us all for jackets, his work speaks volumes for itself, and I curse the day I ever laid eyes, or hands, on that Happy Cow.
Congrats on your new purchase, I look forward to seeing it in person.

You know, I was thinking the same thing. I have an Aero horsehide aviator (open cockpit) 3/4 length and this one feels like that thing. I love my aero and this one - of course I have grown to hate Tony Nowak.. only cause he continues to amaze me and tempt me more into the plethora of jackets path.
Seriously though, the guy is amazing.

Here they are - Now keep in mind these were taken with a timer and I hate HATE having my picture taken (unless it's work related). Also these photos do not do the jacket (or me) justice....but here you go....

I wasn't a fan of the leather until I saw it worn. It looks amazing once it's on - so much character and depth. That is one fantastic jacket! Well done.
Re: My New TN #070 Raiders with TNIP!!! (Pics in the Posts)
Indy G, what about some updated pics of your 'Dirty Oil' jacket now that it's got some wear time on it??.........btw I've got a 'Surrogates' coming in the future in the original leather ( with the 'TN Immigrant pocket') , you need to get one in the 'Shiny Vintage Goat' for comparison.......Indiana G wrote:that jacket just oozes with character. congrats nick. i've got a sample of that goat as well as the non-shiney goat and i know how tuff that stuff is. i put a slice in the sample and then tried to tear it......couldn't do it. maybe i could of, if i had _'s arms but i don't think you could rip that stuff in normal circumstances

Looks even better on! A truly beautiful jacket. Both the shiny and non-shiny versions of the vintage goat are great, great hides.
