TN Raiders #501 ***NEW_PICS***

Post by Heyjude7 »

As RCSignals suggested, here it is..
my thread on my upcoming Tony Nowak Raiders in 747 Cowhide.
The jacket will be arriving Monday..so i cant wait till then.. for now i will post my measurements and when it arrives, then the pics..
so the measurements go with the chart from here
http://www.tonynowak.com/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=44

A>B 23
C>D 22
E>F 21.5
G>H 6.75
I>J 25
K>L 20
M>N 25.5

i was going for half SA and half functional...
the back i got longer cuz i dont dig the ride up on the raiders jacket...
the sleeves i got longer also because i ordered 25 in sleeves on my last jacket(wested) and they shrunk...if they stay longer i can always get them fixed.."you can take away, but never put back"
..and i got the collar point rounded off a little..

i recieved a few samples from Tony and i picked the 747 Cow. he sent me the 747 cow, holy goat, and Dirty Oil cow
it was a toss up of Dirty Oil and 747. in the end i love the 747.. soft and perfect color (thanks Whiskeyman) and super strong!
my wife fell inlove with the dirty oil cow and wants her own custom jacket from it!
the holy goat had a purple'ish hue to it, and im usually all about the goat for a jacket because of the strength and water repelancy but the color was off for my taste.

all i can do now is wait..
thank you to all who inspired me to get a TN Raiders!
i am now part of the CLUB ;)

Yes, I noticed the same color thing with the holy goat compared with my 35 year old goat, Jude.

Good choice!!! I absolutely the love my jacket #747 - the cowhide is wonderful. It's by far the best leather jacket I've ever owned. Probably the best leather jacket I've ever handled.

whiskeyman,
any recent pics other then the ones in your thread?
hows the overall breaking in process? is it softer.. the sample seams like it can take any type of abuse! is that the same for the jacket?
im goin to Alaska next week and wanna take it with me...
on the sample it soaked up water like a sponge.. i put pecards on half the sample and it made it a little bit darker but repelant ;)

Heyjude, the sample may have soaked up water from the back (unfinished side). I think this one would be pretty good compared to other cowhides.

You can also use the Pecards gel (the white liquid) if you feel it needs more water proofing and it won't darken the jacket at all. They use this stuff on suede for that very reason.

I haven't taken any more pics- but the jacket already feels nicely broken in. It feels nice and soft but very tough. And I've worn it on my bike in the rain - I didn't get wet and the jacket didn't feel like it absorbed water.
If the sun comes out tomorrow I might take some new pics.

Sounds good HeyJude. I think that's a great leather choice too.

Apparently in cowhide the jacket doesn't fall back so much, so that extra 2" of back length shouldn't 'grow' to be too long when worn.

Does your wife want a Raiders jacket too?

Totally understand. I took the afternoon off so I could be sure to be here when my TN I arrived!

Of course, the fedex guy didn't get here until 4:30 so I could have worked the whole day. :x

The 747 cow is definately going to be next Nowak jacket.......after I finish paying off the $1K debt from getting the shrunken lamb. :) Anyways, I think I'll wait 'til fall to order one.....much too hot right now to wear anything leather during the summer.
