I think if I'm not mistaken, Holt and Magnoli are working on something like this for the main indygear page. It would be REALLY cool, to see a set of side-by-side photos of each section of each jacket. I know some guys on here (I think Holt is one of them) have at least one of each jacket. I definitely look forward to seeing comparisons.

were not working on the jacket maboot.we are working on the grail diary, which takes forever to get finished.its so much work.you couldnt imagine

these are the major differences that are noticeable when comparing them.

jackets:

Raiders(Hero)

leather: Lambskin
Pattern:919 (80,s cut)
collar: a more pointy tips at collar with tapering to the center neck.

hem stitch
pockets: taller pockets with a deep curved flap.
stormflap: standard(1.5'')
sleeves: tapered sleeves.

no facings.
no shoulder pads.

inside pocket: one slit pocket on left side.

TofD (Hero)

Leather: Lambskin
Pattern: slim fit
collar: untapered collar
stand: there is no collarstand visible like the other jackets.you can see it from the insde of the jacket.
yoke: lower yolk
hem stitch: there is no hem stitch.
pockets: smaller pockets
stormflap: standard
sleeves: more piped stragther sleeves,
straps: higher placed straps and roller buckles with 2 pronges
pleat:1.5'' (I think)
Lining: nylon lining which later was replaced.
inside pocket: ?

Last Crusade (Hero)

Leather: Lambskin.
Pattern: full cut in upper torso with tapered waist.
collar: chunky collar with rounded tips.
stand: collarstand does NOT extend to stormflap.
yoke: lower yolk.
hem stitch: no hem stitch.
Pockets: more squared off pockets with a chunky big flap.
Pocket placement: higher placed on the jacket.
stormflap: 1.75'' wide with snaps.
sleeves: more baggy sleeves.
straps:lower placed and with D-rings
Pleat:1.25''
Lining: dark brown silk lining with silk sleeves.
inside slit pocket: left side

now remember, these are just my observations of the differences.I have not seen one hero jacket in person so I cant say for sure.but I have been working on these jackets quite some time now and my eyes are telling me that these are the major differences.

For those less interested in less obvious details, the important differences (to me) are in the pocket size (big differences in cut, shape and flap length). The ToD pckets are tiny, tthe LC pocket is wide and the flap is huge... Also type of leather. Raiders is like a soft denim jacket while the LC is solid leather, looks like cowhide. LC has press studs on the storm flap. The collar is very different on each jacket although it took me a while to notice that. People say that the length of each jacket is different (variations of up to 2 inches) but I can't see it.

Ahhh, THAT'S what you were working on Holt. I know it was some big daunting project. I don't envy you at all. Sorry about the confusion.

In some of the photos, you can see that the LC collar extends to the midway point of the stormflap.

http://www.theraider.net/showimage.php? ... /mo_03.jpg

Also in the publicity photo of Ford standing in between Lucas and Spielberg.

But in some other photos the collar doesn't extend to the stormflap. This is the case with the Smithsonian jacket.

While I completely understand why Holt left a ? on whether the ToD jacket had an inside pocket as we never actually see it, in the campfire scene, Indy reaches into his jacket and takes out the cloth the boy gave him to show it to Willie. So it's a pretty good bet it has the pocket while not 100% conclusive.

Does this mean the LC jacket had shoulder pads?

I'm confused, was that to _?

And if you list something does that mean it differs from the others on that point?

Like on Raiders you said no shoulder pads... so the other ones DO have shoulder pads?

Isn't this in the Raider's jacket write-up?

I think Barbara Stanwyck's great. Not too interested in her shoulder pads though. The more of her movies I see, the more impressed I am.

Didn't Edith Head have a closet full of Oscars?

All of the linings for the LC jackets were dark brown silk? I thought I had seen a black one before. Guess my eyes have been playing tricks on me
