sizing question for wested raider and LC.

Post by bullet08 »

my measurement for the chest is 42" loose. now i measure all my favorite jackets and they are 23" from arm pit to arm pit, and they are all 44R. what that tells me is that i like 4" movement room.

if what i'm reading ifrom forum s correct, wested LC has 4" movement room, and that means if i order 42" chest, that will get me what i want in fitting.

but does that mean if i want wested raider jacket which i heard has 2" movement room, i would order 44" chest?

it makes perfect sense to me, but not sure if that's how it should work.

also, what are the main difference between wested raider and LC? i read collor shape, location of pocket, location of strap, location of arm seam, snap button on the storm flap are different. is there anything else?

I don't know if it will help. I have a CS/LC jacket and a Raider with the 80's fit, all custom made.
I just gave Wested my chest measurement. For the CS they put a 42 tag and for the Raider a 44 tag on the jacket.

I measure pretty similarly, and I recently put in my order for a 42 (I should probably get 44 but we'll have to see if this is too tight)... will let you know when it arrives! Suffice it to say I'm a little worried about that myself, especially since I'm working out and trying to gain 10 more pounds of muscle this year (bringing me to around 200). Only one way to find out.

I personally think the biggest ting that makes the jacket a "Raider's jacket" is the way it fits the wearer.

If you want a Raider's jacket to look 'right' it has to be a snug fit over just a single shirt.

The obvious thing is to get what you will be happy with. My Moto jacket is larger, so I can wear a fleece under it if I choose to. If I take out the liner and wear it over a t-shirt, it looks big on me...

So, you have to choose what is right for you: comfort, or like the other jackets you have, or geting the right 'look' for the Raider's jacket.

Only you know what is right for you, but the Raiders cut is 2" over chest size and the LC (and others) are 4" over chest size (which is more typical these days for jacket fit).

Hope that helps a bit... ;-)
