Ohhhh the pain...the pain of it all....

Post by Halcyon »

Greetings

Why sad?

Well...

I bought a wested lambskin predistressed aboot 3 years ago, I didnt put any leather protection on, but its still ok. However its going a really light colour and it was quite light to start with and I was wondering if there was a product available which could darken it down. All suggestions welcome from the magical to the sarcastic...

Thanks Muchly.

Pecard.com - This is what everyone here uses...It will bring your jacket back to life, and extend its life as well!
Cheers!

Halcyon,

Do you have a bad web connection? Trust me, the Pecards is soooo good it's worth the shipping cost. Just buy the stuff in bulk and you'll never have to wrry about buying it again - that's what us Yanks do all the time.

You have a "predistressed" Wested lambskin that you bought from Wested!?!? :o

You'd probably find out more information in the Gear Care & Distressing forum.

For Wested's Predistressed Cowhide, all you need is their classic formula...standard Pecards.

I dont think he wants to use the Pecards gel on his lambskin?? That will add weight, which I was always told is a bad thing for a lambskin jacket.
Of course, my lambskin jacket should be coming next monday...oh I'm not anxious... :x

Oops, Neo, you're right. I read "Predistressed" and of course in these parts when you see "Predistressed" it refers to the Cowhide by Wested. I guess he meant "distressed lambskin". I guess I should have read that more carefully.

You being in England...

...buy a can of Letap leather dressing. This is what Peter sells and recommends for his leathers. I've used it, and it works GREAT! WIsh we could get it over here, but it's only sold on your side of the big water, and will be a local product for you. Find a can of Letap in a local store (it's in a black aresol type can) follow the instructions, and your jacket will be as good as new again. High regards. Michaelson

Letap.... hmmm something new.

I would probably have to order one from Peter, when I order my second wested... :D

My second jacket would probably be a wested new authentic goat.

Michaelson, did you say Pecards gel would work best for the goat?
Does the gel add weigt to the jacket? I know it adds weight to lamb.

Thanks.

CEEJAY,

Unfortunately, we cannot get Letap here in the States. You can't ship a pressurized can on an airplane without risk of explosion. Too bad...for now, I guess we 'Mericans will have to do with Pecard's.

I think you can go TO the UK and bring it home on a carry-on, since the cabin is pressurized. Michalson is the expert here, so I hope he chimes in.

Peace,

Oh..... :-k
thanks for the info. Hmm, I dont think I'll be heading down
there anytime soon.

Pecards it is.

Has anyone compared that motorcycle leather lotion thing & pecards?
I'm guessing that they would be the same.

Yup, they are...the name is Pecard's Motorcycle Leather Lotion, I think. I know that you and I have the original dark brown lamb Wested. I do believe that is what is recommended for our type jackets.

However, I could be totally wrong (it has happened before  ). Someone stop the insanity and correct me if I am wrong on this.

Peace,

You've been right on target on all points regarding Pecards. You can carry the Letap back in your carry one. Dr. J did it when he came back from his last visit to England, but no, they will not ship it, and it's not made on this side either (dang it). Jell is perfect to help 'relax' the goatskin, but yes, it does add a bit more physical weight to the leather. Not nearly as much as the standard dressing, but there is a little more preceived weight there. Regards. Michaelson
