AB Deluxe getting a little tighter?

AB Deluxe getting a little tighter?
I've noticed that my AB Deluxe is definitely a bit tighter than it was when I first got it; I suppose as a result of getting wet a few times.
Anyone else had this issue? How can I get it back to where it was?
Thanks,
Tony

Thanks for the link.
I AM a little confused, though. I was under the impression that getting an AB Deluxe wet would not affect the size of the hat. At best count, I've had it on in the rain fewer than three times and it's never been soaked (i.e., completely saturated with water.)
Is this to be expected?
Tony
EDITED TO ADD: That hat-stretcher involves steaming the hat and all that nonsense. After all I've heard about the AB Deluxe, there's no way that this hat should require steaming and resizing after the amount of moisture it's been exposed to. I'll drop Marc a note and see what he says.

Actually, the instructions that include steam are an unsolicited customer review. There's no actual steaming required. Also, as others have said, it could very well be just the sweatband, or your hair growing out, or a little of both that's causing the tight fit. If the shrinking is only resulting in a tight fit, than this is probaly the case, rather than the hat body itself shrinking.

your post was confusing to me but it seems to me that the hat didn't shrink but maybe with some hair growth and possible the sweatband shrinking that all you need would be the hat jack. I have done this to a hat sweatband to get a little snug fitting hat to fit better. Wet the inside of the sweatband and fold it back into the hat. place in the hat jack. Don't tighten up the hat jack to much and let sit until the sweatband is completely dry. Day or so. You might have to do this 2-3 times but afterwards it should be fine.

You're right Oak, but if you are in the middle of the storm and you have the plastic cover, [unless you sweat a lot - maybe because you're running out the rain haha], the sweat band wont get wet therefore it wont shrink.BendingOak wrote:If it's the sweatband. A little plastic cover wont do anything to protect that.

I highly suggest that before you do ANYTHING to the hat, you contact Marc directly and see what he has to say. If the hat has only been exposed to minimal moisture, as you described, I don't think it should be shrinking up to any noticeable degree. Neither of my ABD's have had the sweatbands shrink at all over the last year, and they've both been saturated with rain and sweat several times. The whole reason Marc switched to the 'roo hide sweats was because of the superior durability they offered, so I would definitely alert him to your current issue.

Dear Tony,
I'm sorry to read that you're having difficulties with your sweatband. I've had a handful of sweatband that shrank (NO bloody idea why and I've ordered new sweatbands that I pre-shrink before putting them in after I found out). As soon as the new sweatbands arrive, I'll let you know so you can send the hat back and I'll fix it on my dime. Sorry that you got one of the "bad dates" Tony.
Kind regards,
Marc

No, it is just your head swelling with pride at owning an ABD.TonyRush wrote:I've noticed that my AB Deluxe is definitely a bit tighter than it was when I first got it; I suppose as a result of getting wet a few times.

Hey! Woah!
I guess it pays to stop and give a compliment to someone who deserves it...
I wasn't keeping track, but it looks as though my last post about Marc just put me OVER the "200 Post Line" (Great Scott... has it been THAT many, already?)
So, buy me a drink, somebody...
I've just been promoted to Archeologist!
