Funny thing happened at the gun range today
Today at the range I was doing some reload drills (empty a magazine, drop the magazine, reload with a different magazine, and fire, doing it all as quickly as possible). For this drill I like to load up three magazines at a time (2-4-2) so I can repeat the drill. Well, after loading up the magazines, I always tap the back side of the magazine against the table to line up the rounds (helps to feed better). Well, I went to tap the first magazine and as soon as I hit the table I heard a "BANG". I tapped the second one and simultaneously I heard a "BANG". I did the third one and again, "BANG". At that point I actually looked at the last magazine with some wonderment as I was definitely having a librarian moment from "Last Crusade". It turned out to be my wife in the station next to me firing at the same time as was tapping my magazines. I've always tapped the back of my magazines, but I've never had them line up with anyone else's shot before. Plus, it literally sounded like it was coming from the magazine. The wife and I got a kick out of it.
That's pretty funny, particularly with multiple occurances! Clear shades of LC librarian!
I had a similar thing happen at the range a few years back when sighting in a .22 rifle. I squeezed the trigger and KABOOM!!! Much, much louder than it should have been. I thought I'd had a case detonation or some other catastrophic structural failure. I carefully opened the bolt and was inspecting the case when there was another KABOOM! The guy two down from me was firing some serious loads from some kind of safari hunting rifle. Ear protection can mess with your sense of sound direction.
