It's a Viet-nam - present era GI gas mask bag. Totally different, and wouldn't work for an Indy bag. You wear it around your waist, and the opening flap faces forward when worn.
Skip that one,

No - that's a US Mark 17 bag. Made of nylon webbing-type canvas, rather than a cotton-type of the older styles. I had one for a while, and mod'd it for my nephew for an Indy bag, but for a serious collector, it doesn't cut it.

Why would you want a cheap imitation of the Mk VII when you can get the real thing from Todd's or Magonlia?

I went through the EXACT same predicament last summer, and I mean exact. I was 15, broke, and no businesses were willing to hire a 15 year old. And I really wanted a MKVII too. Well, this is what I did...I did whatever I could for some cash whether it be save up all of my allowance (which isn't at all that much) and mowed the lawn for an addtional charge to my parents. Needless to say, I can be very convincing without being unreasonable.
One thing I can say from experience is don't settle for a bag that is less than the real thing. You can get a relatively cheap vintage MKVII bag from Endicott's. The USD is weak so if Kevin is still offering a bag at 15.95 GBP it would be around $31...and I think that includes shipping too if it hasn't changed. Check it out at

Dont stop believin'!

Paypal allows you to transfer the money through the exchange rates. If you are interested, shoot Kevin an email as he was very very good to work with and he can help you alot.

For what it's worth, this bag
can be adapted for use as an adventure bag.

It's not going to give you the same look as the MkVII, and will take additional sourcing for the strap and hardware, but maybe the price is right. It was for me.
