Update on new Federation coming out soon....

Post by Michaelson »

I would be happy for you to confirm a new block,
the change from mid brown to dark brown for the standard fed, brim
dimensions and new trim... Production well advanced.. Announcement
soon!
More as it comes in, but the project is WELL on it's way, and the block looks great!

Once the HatsDirect website is updated, a link will be posted with photos.

Very exciting! I have both the Fed and FedDlx and I much prefer the color of the Dlx over the standard mid-brown of the regular. How will the new color of the Fed compare / Contrast?

Wish I could tell you, Kyle, but I was asked to be 'vague' until they have everything ready to reveal.

I can't wait to see it. I wonder if it will be worth it to sell my Fed for the new version?

Why sell it?! The more hats you own, the better

I know what you mean, but in order to afford a new one I need to sell the one that I have.

Can't wait to see. I hope they don't change the dimensional cut too much, I really like the brim the way it is. Love my Feds (Nervous...)

Yep. Can't wait. I wish I could get something better, but this new Federation will probably be all I can afford before Indy 4 comes out. All I've got to wear right now is a badly shrunken DP. A Federation is no Adventurebilt, but at least it's a high quality fedora.

This sounds like a good option for my first Fedora - looking forward to seeing it!

Did Steve direct them to his block? I read elsewhere that he had helped another competitive hatter with their indy block. Are we going to be able to get an Akubra with the best rabbit felt out there in the block shape of an AB?!!! As Steve is not offering a rabbit option any longer and Akubra isnt going to make 100% beaver indy hats, that would be sweet! He admitted that this decision to help this competitor would cut into his own factory hat sales but I'm telling you Steve really looks out for us in a selfless way as he wanted a lower cost option to be available for Indyfans young and old into the future. He's just a classy guy.

The block being used is an Akubra block. That's all I can say until the news is officially released by Ron.

I thouhgt I was done with Federations, but this update to the old line actually has me excited. If the color kills, I may have to sell of one of my old ones!

This couldn't come at a better time. I'm gearing back up for May, and I'd already decided on the Fed Dlx. as my main lid, putting my 30's vintage Borsalino into a dignified semi-retirement. I love that hat, but I wanted something that won't make me cry if I lose it.....

Besides, I got married in an Akubra Bushman. What can I say, the wife is awesome....I should post pix somewhere around here. Oddly enough, we actually spent part of our honeymoon in Katoomba, just down the street from HatsDirect...And we're from Florida! More good fedora/adventure pix there...

Anyway, I'm ready to pull the trigger NEXT WEEK on Pants, Shirt, MKIV bag, Wings goatskin jacket, and a Fed Deluxe next week---Just happened to have overtime $$$ for it all---with the wife's blessing, no less! (Not that she could say 'No'!)

So Michaelson....I'm taking it we're talking maybe a week or two here? Nudge Nudge...Wink Wink...Knowhatimean? :-

Well, I've waited 19 years for a film...What's another couple of weeks for a hat?
