Question about Indy's gun belt?

Post by webley420 »

Ok the belt that Indy uses to hold his gun and whip from does he feed it through any of the belt loops in his pants or does he just wrap it around his waist?

dunno, its something that could take awhile to spot. it depends how loose and slanted it is. sorta like han solo's gun belt perhaps? I guess it would have to go through a loop somewhere.

I'd say that he just wore it around his waist.

I seem to remember reading a topic that asked the very same question as this that ended up in a very heated debate on the function of a belt. :-k :P

Was it ever decided why the belt won't slip off your hips? :-k

Man Rabittooth, that was the best read I have had. How did I miss that one?

Is it possible that Holly has nailed this? Answered the question that members continue to ask? It is more obvious on a woman, but holds true for most men as well that the hips are slightly larger than the waist, so the belt cannot go beyond the hips if tightened properly at the waist (as you mentioned).

OMG

That's so funny, it's almost unbelieveable, if I hadn't had read it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed ANYONE...........

Everyone, seriously, read that thread, I never realised that my 'pants' were held up by little faireys! I always thought it was the elastic in them...... Oh, wait a minute, you meant 'pants' as in trousers, hmm, lucky there wasn't an Englishman involved with that debate or it'd have got really messy, right guys??!?!?!?! :?

I could almost hear people chanting 'fight, fight, fight' whilst reading that thread! Thanks for bringing it up Rabbitooth! Hey, you wonder if anyone's graduated from Chicago university lately???

And on an even more important note, which definition (UK, US) of "faireys" does apply? :?

Good to see you around again, Ian! Keeping that SA80 well oiled and Bergen stuffed with heavy things, I hope?

OMG!! That was one of the funniest threads I have read in a long time. I have heard of the fabled "Gregoire Defense". Isn't that the one where you kill your opponents with ignorance?
I thought Rabbittooth was going to be ballistic!!

Btw, how did Jones keep his gunbelt up?...........

Yeah, that second one was mine. :D

BTW, if you don't have a gun (counter weight) it does help to run the whip side of the gun belt through your left belt loop to keep it looking correct. I know...if you want to look correct you should have the gun. :P

That truly was one of the wildest threads I've read here. However, all seriousness aside, three factors affect a belt staying up: body contours, friction, and (what rabbittooth tried so hard to get across) tightness of the belt. I've seen so many westerns, war movies, and adventure movies where men wear a gunbelt hanging on one side, and the belts don't fall down around their ankles. It's a law of nature. By the way, if you wear no belt and your pants are two sizes too large, your pants will fall down. Some people do this for some unknown reason.
