Hi everyone. I'm the new guy and this is my first post. First off, I'd like to say that this forum is great and it has really helped me in getting my gear. Second, I recieved my TOD jacket several weeks ago and I really love it. Problem is...it gets little white spots on it whenever the jacket is snagged on something. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Hi there, welcome to the forum. :)

Could you describe the white spots? Are they on the surface of the leather or showing up under the dark brown of the leather?

Right on the surface. For example, if I snagged it with my fingernail it would leave the smallest white spot as if some of the brown dye had not gone deep enough through the skin. It is hardly noticeable and I'm not the type worrying about keeping my gear pristine, except the whip!

That does sound odd. :-k

I know that there sometimes can be some chalk residue left from the tailoring that you can easily rub off, and that the distressed parts on my auth. goat are lighter and more grey than they are on lamb jackets.

Have you tried any Pecard's or such on it yet to see if it helps?

Swindiana

Yes...I used pecards and it did nothing. I wonder if brown she polish would darken it up?

This sounds odd and I cannot imagine what it might be. I suppose if you took a photo the light might wash it out, but it would be interesting if I could see what you are talking about. -I've never heard of this.

She polish doesn't work. It actually left a darker brown spot around the white. I'll try to take a picture and post it...later. Right now I'm getting readt to head out.

Best way to go would be to ask Peter, Gerry or Jerry about it I think...
Or hope for someone else with a DB goat to chime in.
(I know distressing projects have been going on on DB goats, and maybe some of those guys will recognize this "problem"?)

Good luck, I'm as curious about this as you are. ;)

Swindiana

I haven't heard of this problem - my only thoughts are that it might be some kind of coating which is coming off but like the good man Swindiana says I would ask Peter about it.

Hey all...I tried to take pictures of the spots but my camera isn't that great. I've come to the conclusion that westwd jackets are actually made of pleather and what I'm seeing is the plastic underneath! :D It's probably just a scratch...no big deal. I aint gonna sweat it. Thanks for the advice and all the salutations...you guys are a freindly bunch.
