Aeris: That hat looks amazing on your head ... looks just like as if it belongs there naturally! Very dashing!

i think you're right AC. i at first thought that that AB was a bigger crown height, but if its the standard 4 1/2" finish, then i guess i'm throwing out everything i thought i knew about bashing the crown

that looks great on you for sure. it's funny how you got the nice brim swoop from an unturned hat.....i hate to say it, but bink was right

Aeris_Canon wrote:It's kind of weird, but I think even that hat (at 4 1/2" front pinch) looks a tad too tall on me (not by much, but just a tad.) The HJ is down to a hair over 4" front pinch and looks to be more in perspective on my head. Might be something to consider for those of us who are shorter of stature.
This is why I generally ask for an Indy hat to be made and/or bashed so it looks right on me, rather than having screen accurate measurements. As much as I like AC's AB ( ) - I think the HJ looks more "authentic" on him. (Why do I have that feeling of talking about somebody as if they weren't there, but they are?)

Move along, nothing to see here...only an AB! Sorry just a new shot is all.

Great shot, what were your camera specs?

by Harrison_Davies
Hi VP,

Canon EOS 350D
Sigma EF 50-500mm Zoom Lens.

White Background (Which annoyingly always comes out gray)
2 X Photosel Softboxes with 5500k 500w Lights

Just practicing with the new kit.

Due to get some umbrellas and a Canon EOS 40D soon.

I love the Canon stuff. I've used it professionally for years.
If you want the background white you have to throw some light on it!
Try this lighting "receipe".
One softbox in front and to the side.
A large white piece of foam core in front on the other side, to bounce light back into the shadow side of the face.
Now the other soft box in back aiming at the background.

Let me know what you think.
Great gear by the way.

Hi thanks for that,
I will give it a go.

I'm expecting 2 more softboxes and umbrella unit - all flash based rather than constant on. I will use the constant on units to light the background I think.

Looks GREAT, Harrison! Gosh, that jacket looks good, but beat! Maybe some brown pecards? The distressing is really bright.

Aeris_Canon wrote:It's actually not that much of a difference on the crown height. Very subtle when you look at the two side by side.
.......
Speaking of clean hats, what's the status on your Pepsi hat?
That's the same HJ I saw? It looked so much shorter in person. Either that, or you look taller in person! Those pictures could totally pass as "before and after" of the same hat!

My Pepsi flavored AB has survived. Just a couple of vague marks, buts nothing to cry about. Steve said I can get it cleaned whenever it needs a reblock without any permanent damage, and Bink sent me an extra liner. So, 'sall good! :D

I meant to send you a straw, too, Chewie. It's what we call "product placement," though I can't say it was a good product placement.

AC, you really do have a knack for bashing a good Raiders hat, be it an HJ or an AB.

Hi not sure what you mean by interesting brim choice...I must be the only gearhead who hates the turn because it upsets the brim.

Personally, I think you need some of that brim cut off Harrison. On the sides. It is a bit too much to be accurate, on your facial shape. Yeah, my fault probably, if you left the brim specs up to me. These brims are funny things. The hardest part to get right for the various facial shapes. I still miss them from time to time. Yours sure looks to be 2 3/4 on the sides.

For anyone who feels the brims are too wide on your ABs, I will trim them down for free, you just pay the postage. I have gravitated to mine being 2 1/2 on the sides. There won't be a long wait for trims, as I will do them the same day that I get them. Takes me 10 minutes. Fedora

Perhaps a small amount yes, but I still love my AB no matter what. If I fall of a cliff while searching for some golden idol maybe the extra brim will act as a parachute and slow my descent.

BTW Steve, sent you a PM.

Hi, everybody!

I'm new on COW, but as a guest I stick around for almost three years.

I am the last one who jumped on the rabbit deal. Ordered the hat on feb. 4th. So I'm number twelve or thirteen.

I hope you guys will receive your hats very soon. If you got yours, I will get mine

Nice to be on COW

Somebody must have either backed out or Steve is doing a special one for me then because he took a rabbit order from me in June. :) That'll be about a year before the new movie comes out - I hope I get it in time. :) I'm trying to not watch this board too much because I get too excited!

So am I going to be the proud owner of the last rabbit fedora? :) Or PM me if my order isn't going to work out (I sent you the paypal in June)...

Hey RK! Nice reverse taper!

You know what's great about that pic is the bright green contrast with your gear.

All the credit goes to Steve Delk. He didn't make a Screen Accurate fedora, he made one that is perfect for ME! Which might actually be harder...

Yea, My wife really has a great eye for taking photos. She just set up the camera and took the shot.

I guess I had nothing to do with that picture besides just being there.

How about your Avatar, Modern Jones? If you're having trouble I would be happy to host it for you.

I bought this one from the classifieds on FL. The seller said it was supposed to be a 25 inch long oval but was tight on him and since I am a 24 in. lo I took a chance that it would fit. It fits perfectly!
I guess it's just a basic raiders bash, he said he had Steve style it. So if it is from any certain scene or anything I do not know.

yeah, but with Steve being so busy and having just gotten it I will wait until later for a reblock. I wasn't even planning to order one until a month or two before the movie. It may have something to do with the seller saying it was supposed to be a 7 7/8 and the fact that it fits me a 7 5/8 perfectly.

Going by the ribbon, that hat was made before I started using the HJ ribbon. So it has been around for awhile. Looks like it is holding up very well. Fedora
