It still looks dark....I remember that Weston's and _'s seemed to lighten after similar treatment....

While I the actual jacket is still very dark (a deep, rich, dark brown color is probably the best way I would describe it), after considering your question and taking another look at the photos I posted I think it's probably safest for me to say that something about the lighting in these shots makes it look just a shade "blacker" than I think it looks in person.Weston wrote:Mitch, is your jacket really that dark, or is it the light?

Now the good news is we do have some longs but there is an extra charge for longs as seen on our site and the reason is very simple More leather!!I told Michaelson today I thought we had 6 boxes of Striated Lamb But after Lisa open the boxes we do not have that many.. As of this morning we had 52 Indy Style Legend Striated Lamb made in the USA jackets... I do not have any extra Striated Lamb at this time and honestly have no clue when we will get any more in the near future and for sure I won't offer it below my cost.. I told everyone last year what was going to happen to the prices and Fans that time is here and it will never get better for a very long time to come!! The price of leather has gone up and is going up a lot more.Indiana Croft wrote:Sarge is top shelf. No doubt about it.![]()

In a converstion I had with Sarge waaaaaaaaaaaay back when, I remember telling him, oh I'd never throw it in a washing machine.Well I hope giving it bath doesn't count, I just had to shrink it some, but now I'm lovin this jacket and wear it every chance I get. And living in NH, the weather can change quickly. 70"s and 80's last couple days, tommorrow to go over 90deg.
But this offer of 295.00, if I didn't allready own one, Id buy one.

What is your chest size that the Large fits so close?gladd96 wrote:I absolutely love this striated lamb (sheep)! Other than it being a tad too thick, to my eye it has about as good of a Raiders vibe as anything out there. G&B and Todd's may be a hair better on cut or construction but they don't have the "warts" like the SL Legend. Not sure I'll ever run mine through the washing machine but man the results look great. Personally I just love the feel of this leather. I can see where the lack of drape might be a turn off to some but in theory I would guess a thicker skin to be more durable and warm. Both are great trade offs for those of us willing to sacrifice that aspect of what we see on screen.
Dang this site. Now I have an XL on the way to pair with my L. Just too good of a deal for me to pass up given that I plan on hitting the weights this summer. I couldn't abuse the L as much as I'd like out of fear of shrinkage. It's a pretty close fit. I'm real intrigued at how the XL will fit. I suspect I'll like the fit better and if not well I shouldn't have any trouble finding someone who does.
For anyone on the fence I wouldn't delay. If you want a well built thick lamb jacket with a really cool vibe you won't do better than this. Well worth the price.
Been a while since I was measured but I was at 40" then so I'd guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 41"-42". Sorry I don't have a tape measure handy plus it's kind of hard to self measure. I'm one of those cursed souls trapped between being a large and an extra-large. The large fit really good at first but now it tends to bind in the shoulders a bit more than I like.bobcatmvp1 wrote:What is your chest size that the Large fits so close?gladd96 wrote:I absolutely love this striated lamb (sheep)! gladd96 wrote:"from everything I've read and researched these are to long" -That's what she said![]()
The length of this type of jacket is about as subjective of a thing as there is. To my eye the basic proportion is there- now it's probably not spot on to a screen used Raiders jacket but Harrison Ford's measurements are pretty far away from average so that's probably a good thing.
Rough measurements taken with a tape measure!
XL:
Pit to pit 24"
waist 22"
bottom of collar stand to jacket bottom 26-1/2"
L:
pit to pit 23"
waist 22"
bottom of collar stand to jacket bottom 25-1/2"
After trying on my new XL I can say these jackets are fairly close to each other in terms of size but if you have lanky shoulders like I do or desire a jacket that doesn't restrict your motion then the XL is probably the way to go. It's weird I like the fit of both jackets though to be fair the XL is comfy stiff out of the box and should become even more comfy as it breaks in. Also the leather on the L is thicker and has a cool shiny finish that I like while the XL is thinner with a little more of a matte finish plus it seems to have more grain. I like the feel of the leather of my first jacket better and the grain on my second is better but that's just luck of the draw I guess. Anyway I won't feel as bad about giving the new XL a bit of a treatment since it doesn't have as luxurious of a feel to it and it's grain is just begging to be popped. Think I'll be holding on to both jackets.
This is a great deal on a quality made in the USA jacket but these seem to run fairly true to standard USA off-the-rack sizes where Wing's jackets normally run a but larger. If you can wear or should I say if you can either fit a standard size to a T or are happy to live with the limitations of a non custom jacket you would be hard pressed to do better than this jacket for $295!
Thank you Jake ! That is kind of you to say that...I love the Hobby and all those that walk the extra mile for one another ! I feel it is an honor to be a part of COW.Indiana Jake wrote:Just got my jacket Tuesday night. I have taken some 'before' pictures of it that I will post soon to compare what I am in the process of doing. Right now it is 'during' stage so no other pictures as of yet. I am in the middle of doing some things to it. Here's where I'm at up to now. I placed it in the tub with COLD water and got it soaked. I stepped on it with my bare feet, wrinkled it with my hands, and then wrung it out. I placed it in the washer with a towel and some old t-shirts, and only put it on the spin section of the washing cycle to remove most of the water. I then took the jacket, t-shirts and towel and placed them in the dryer for 20 minutes with NO heat. Then I put it on, got in the car and drove for about an hour - an errand. I had to change my shirt where I stopped, as it was mostly soaked. Then I placed the jacket on a flat surface with a towel underneath. I placed more t-shirts inside to absorb moisture and let it sit overnight. Right now as I type, I am wearing it, and it is still damp. I will not put this coat on a hanger till it's completely dry. The moisture in the area of the front pockets make the jacket seem excessively bottom-heavy. I don't want hanger marks in the shoulders, and I don't want the wet pockets to stretch the jacket and make it longer. I will likely let it dry flat and then oil it with Pecard's. After the Pecard's I will be done doing things to it. At this point I will take the comparison pics.
Here are some observations based on my limited knowledge of Indy jackets:
This jacket is sturdy, and a bit heavy. Maybe cause it's wet right now? It was heavy before I got it wet. I might also be comparing the weight of the US Wings lamb to the Todd's Bantu Wind Lamb. What a weight difference.
The leather is beautiful. This jacket has striations, but not like the Bantu Wind Todd's Jacket I just got, and not like some of the other striated lamb photos I've seen on this thread. Maybe because I did not add any heat? What I do have are some great wrinkles and creases. It's really starting to look good. I can't wait till it's dry.
With the exception of the weight, this jacket just screams Raiders mostly because of the way it wrinkles and has the striations. Based on what I've understood from reading here, I'm starting to think that the Bantu Wind Todd's jacket is more like the one that was worn in Raiders - being lighter in weight and the heavy striated texture. However, I think that this jacket will give many years of wear, especially in colder temperatures. I do like how sturdy it feels.
BTW - Sarge- you are offering a very fine product and customer service to the hobby.

I don't plan on it. I'm loving the way the new antique lamb breaks in just from normal wear.Sgt. wrote:
