Thanks VP. I assume Wested knows how thin to go? Double looks like it would work better though. Any thoughts on this? Are you pleased with the performance? Also the buckle for the side straps - is this the standard one?

Wested are only doing single gussets these days. If you want narrow pleats then be sure to spec them.
. (Although a lot of recent examples show a trend towards narrower pleats, it doesn't hurt to ask). Those are the standard black rectangular sliders remember to request those too!

D-rings are the standard AFAIK, rectangular buckles are an option. I'm not sure if they know how thin to go, that's what the agent5 specs said IIRC. Don't have a jacket without gussets to do a comparison, haven't had any problems. Here's a shot by MK of a FS next to the real thing:

i still have a hard time swallowing rectangular sliders (....maybe should put it in with ice cream
).
buckles for me on raiders jackets please.....wested don't have them but m recht & associates out of australia have some nice ones that i use on my raiders jackets. you have to send them to wested to install them during their construction of the jacket.

I have the d rings on mine but they keep sliding open. It gets a little frustrating - I would think the rectangular ones would hold better, n'est pas?

C'est vrais! I got the 1" black rectangular loops from strapworks and they hold much better than the D rings. Only suggestion is that you get a couple extra. You might break 1 or 2 until you get the hang of it because they're much more brittle than the original D rings. But for 17 cents each that's no biggie. Personally I think they're a big improvement over the D rings!!!

It's here! After only 26 working days I recieved my horse hide raiders jacket from Wested.
All meassurements are as I wanted them and it fits perfect. Only thing they forgot was the under arm gussets I requested. But I can understand that it was missed since it was a thing I mailed in about a week after I had placed my order (Gemma however did reply to my request and said she added it to my order).
I haven't gone for SA, just a standard custom raiders jacket with my meassurements that probably is more TOD because of the length. And what can I say, I love it.
The jacket is pretty heavy and stiff but I've been wearing it for to days now and it is soften up.
The wierd thing is that I am already thinking of ordering another one in lamb to use in the summer but with some other modifications now when I know how they fit. Want smaller arm holes for better arm movement for example. Not the kind of "suit arms" modern jacket has.
And here are some pics (hope they aren't too big).

nicktheguy wrote:Michaelson, would you suggest single or double gussets? What would hte pros/cons be?
Sorry, nick...I JUST saw this question.
If a jacket is fitted correctly, neither are really needed, but personally I'm a 'fan' of the single gusset, but that's based simply due to MY level of activity and use of the extra 'movement' my arms are allowed with with the gusset installation. The more material, the higher your arm can raise.
