I guess I´ll chime in with my Adventurebilt.
A bit of "Dannalicing" and it is beging to look the way I like it -
Indy´sk.
It´s a LC-style, pure beaver, all Steve/Marc

And my wife thinks I look better without a hat... seems like I´ve picked
the worst thing in total...
(naa.. I disagree with Your both

Great pic, JAN!
I think the hat looks well on your head, so I have to disagree to your wife (with all respect, of course).
Nice face you make on the pic, to much sun, Dr. Jones?

Sit on it. Twice, actually. Scrunch it up once. See what happens. That's what I did, and mine looks fine.

@erri_wan: really nice hat you got there. And don't be afraid: the costume designers also treated Ford's hat for Raiders
@JAN: Your hat also looks fine. I had the opportunity to see it in person and I just love it (as your jacket
). But mind the sun for taking good pictures. Here's another (better) one:
@Alababa & Wayne: Cool. Wayne's hat looks even more "used". Or is it just the camera? But I like the "used" stuff...

Tom

Since I sat on it just now, no. The first post in this thread is the pics of my Adventurebilt the day after I had sat on it once, and that's how it still looks right now (I'm not sitting on it anymore
).
I am going to have some new pics up soon, though.
edit: Actually, Neolithic was able to achieve some serious reverse taper by sitting on his.

Yeah, you know, you can literally see where Ford's hat in the Cairo scenes was crushed and then straightened out. I know folks thought I was nuts when I told them to sit on their hats if the Cairo scene was what they were after. That is the only way to get the mushroom look. And, it helps also if the factory stiffener in the hat has been broken down too. regards, Fedora

So what happens if i sit on it? Improve my hat?
You fedora officially say i can sit on my hat?

Erri_Wan, I have a rabbit AB that I sat on and it looks great! It is a lot softer since I have received it.
Here is a picture of my hat when I first received it.
Here is a picture of it after I did all of the things above.

Yup. If you're going for that well-worn Raiders look, you have to sit on it, straighten it out, sit on it again, work the felt with your hands, sit on it. straighten it up. It gives the hat that beaten character it needs for SOC.

Yeah, crushing your hat will not hurt it. Now, if the hat is really stiff, I would first work the crown with my hands to soften up the felt and then crush it. If the hat was cowboy stiff, I would not risk the distressing. The hat might acutually crack!! Stiff felt is another animal. But, if you are attracted to the Cairo look, the hat has to be distressed. Much of the look comes from this. Fedora

Unless I'm mistaken Noodle chickie said on the DVD that she sat on it and had Ford sit on it, so I guess you have to sit on it to be screen accurate.
Some of you "young guns" won't get this, but this thread is starting to remind me of "Happy Days".

Looks like you might want to define the back of the top bash a little. Have you seen this sight?
http://www.regular-guy.com/fedora.html Maybe define the front bashes a little more on the back-bottom corner. Toward the ribbon and back. If you know what I mean.

Indiana_Tom wrote:@Erri Wan: Looks good to me. Did you distress it with dirt? At least it looks so.
Not distressed, not intentionally... lol. I didn't work on it, maybe it's the rabbit felt, i dont know... under some lights it looks very dirty... with other light intesities looks very clean... who knows!
It's a question for Mr Fedora.
Anyway i use it everyday also when i ride my bike so maybe it gets dirt and dust... i also met some "Working in Progress" streets few days ago... so maybe that's the explanation of the distress look. Should i clean it or does it look good?

Man, I just can't stop fiddling with my hat. For me its definately "the turn" that creates that distinctive Raiders brim. I wonder if Steve will do a reblock and then let me bash it myself to get the proper turn.
