I do not think I have ever posted a picture of my Adventurebilt. So here it is...

I think Steve posted a pic of you catching 40 winks on your AB once. Nice to see it from the front though, and not being used for a pillow.
Cool shot, Rick.

Do you consider AB's inferior because they have a floppy brim? Am i reading it right? Do they have a floppy brim?

I knew it was an AB from the floppy brim. An Akubra would never do that.
I've yet to handle an AB in person, but I can say that my 2 year old Akubra Federation (that has tapered to TOD proportions) has had all of the stiffener drained out of it due to repeated raining and other abuse and the brim looks just as floppy as any AB.

The AB is head and shoulders above an Akubra. I like my Akubra, it's a good hat. But it doesn't hold a candle to my AB. The floppy brim is what gives it its distinct look when turned. You can shape it any way you want without steam or water.

Yeah, I wouldn't say never. You just have to break it in...a lot.

For a second, I thought the light spots on the hat was the way the light was playing on it, but now I see it's dirt! Is that dirt, or fullers earth? Great hat GMANN!

Strider,
It's Fuller's Earth. The stuff works great.

Nice hat man!
I do believe that is an Old Navy shirt.

by squidkidd
Old Navy shirt indeed. I really like the lightweight quality to it. I have an L.L.Bean shirt too, which is good when its not quite so blazing humid. I do have to say though, i'm loving the hat more and more by the minute. What I think amazes me the most is how with all my previous hats I spent so long tweaking them, pulling here, pinching there, the whole 9 yards. But with the AB its just <emrill>BAM!</emril> instant raiders right out of the box.

That may be the nicest AB crown I've seen yet. I love that semi-profile! I think the wait for mine is going to kill me!

Great looking hat! I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of mine. The "early" AB that I recently wore on an adventure out in Utah served me VERY well!!

Wow. I mean, wow. I just got my AB and am speechlessly happy with it. I'll post pics. as soon as I get the pinch and everything settled in.
But wanted to add testimony right away . . .

My Adventurebilt - outside where it belongs. You could say that this picture is taken "in the field" and you would be partially correct. It is on the Avalon Trail descending
Mt. Field heading to Mt. Avalon.

Tweaked my AB the other day, It's now the perfect crusade hat in my opinion, it's also been rained on twice. These where good rains too, might neither shrank nor tapered. It stood up to the rain like a champ. It's also seeing some serious heat here in El Paso, The AB is truly the ultimate indy hat!

I was just reading old posts before I order my first AB. I just noticed this pic of Erri:
That's probably the best fitting Indy jacket I've ever seen!

by Erri
LOL thanks! I admit it's very nicely fitting. I don't know why but I hate that picture anyway
Posted: Tue Aug 08, 2006 8:46 am
by Strider
I think it's cause it's an 80's fit.
Posted: Tue Aug 08, 2006 8:49 am
by Ghos7a55assin
I think it's the shoulders. It hits the shoulder right on and causes the chest to drape well. The waist is nice and tight. The armholes look higher and sleeves a little narrower than some other jackets too. Maybe it's just the Italian way of dressing?

I think that jacket looks good on him because he's thin.

by Erri
I think it's because it's custom made!
I ordered an 80's cut, tapered sleeves and I gave my measurements of the chest and sleeves. Nothing more than that. I didn't add 1 or 2 sizes like some people do.
Thanks for the compliments anyway

You had custom length sleeves didn't you?

Ditto.
Not to knock us guys who could lose a spare tire or in my case maybe two but I think Erri never looks bad in his jacket.
Erri you may not like the picture but you do look good. The jacket does drape nicely on you. Being thin allows the tight 80's cut to showoff your form.
I ordered my authentic brown in the 80's cut and ....uh....let me just say that until I lose that 'spare tire', I'll be in my dark brown lamb.
