It's a really bad idea to wear shoes so tight they cause discomfort. The 12's I had were a bit snug but after a few hours of wearing and the alcohol trick they fit great with no tightness.

But thinking you need to wear something for days until it will fit probably means it won't. They need to go to a shoe repair person who can try to stretch them the proper way. And I'm mostly talking about width because if your toe is to the end of the boot there's not much that will remedy that.

EDIT - I spelled "toe" "tow"!!!

I've always heard to not skimp on two things, eyewear and footwear. If a shoe is a size small, order a larger size or half-size. Some have posted about the ill effects of shoes that do not fit, problems to the back, legs and feet if not sized properly.

OK, from what I can see Todd has done it again. His boots look dead on.

But how's the weight and quality when handling them compared to Aldens?

(sorry if already answered in the previous pages but no time to read it all)

I don't know, how can people compare something that's $80 to something that's $350? Not gonna do it but will say what I think of them compared to other similar footwear.

For the price Todd did a great job. The leather is certainly lighter than other more expensive/heavier duty boots but so far mine have been great. The sole seems to be fantastic and of a high quality. I think the only issues people may have, and this has been discussed, are some hardware issues like hooks for the laces possibly coming out. But I believe Todd may address this on future shipments. On the outside, the workmanship is superb.

Bottom line is I've been wearing mine just like any other pair of shoes for a month now and am glad I didn't spend nearly $400 on shoes simply because "Indy wore them".

Glad to read here that they're a tight fit.

There's a pair up on the 'bay right now going for only 10 pounds at this moment. But they are a size 8D. :(

I'm normally a size 9, so I thought I might tkae the chance and squeeze in. But as I read here that they are tight, I'll let it go.

Still, at that price it would be a shame if nobody from here picked them up...

The sizes were incorrect. That 8D may actually be a size 7 and they probably won't fit you.

Thanks. I figured that out, that's why I posted this here so someone else in COW might be able to get them.

If their feet are small enough... :[

I returned my size 10's and just got the size 11's. There great! They fit wonderfully! I'll be wearing them daily. If they hold up, I'll be ordering more.

I got my Todd´s a couple of weeks ago and they are great. Thanks to the input from COW, I odered a size 11 for my 10- 10.5 size feet and they fit perfectly. Has anybody else noticed that the heel portion gives off an unpleasant smell? Sorta like burnt plastic? This is no deal breaker by any means, and is only noticeable holding the boots up to your face, or polishing them.

I find sizing is thus.

Mine are marked as a 10D but fit me perfectly... I am an exact Size 8 UK or 42 Euro.

Todds are coming up a size smaller & include US - UK conversion makes this correct. 10 is UK 8

The tightness is due to the shape of the last at the widest part of the foot. We're fixing that. In the meantime, you can stretch them by a) wear b) wear + alcohol or shoe stretch spray c) stop in at a shoe repair store and they will use a shoe stretcher on them. It should take about 5 minutes.

As far as sizing, the marked size is really 2 sizes off, but some are finding they can comfortably wear only 1 size up (probably depending on the width of your foot). Nevertheless, don't sweat it. Just order your normal size and we'll send you the right ones.

The odor is the new rubber in the soles. It will go away on its own. These sole materials were made expressly for these boots, so the rubber is very new.

Oh, yes, the factory is working on our next order which includes sizes up to 13 (correct sizes this time). I would look for them early next year.
I dont know what your ordering ratio is, Im assuming you are having these mass produced overseas, but how about something along the lines of for every 20 pairs of 10s or 11s(normal size for a man i gather) you could order 2 14s and 15s?Just a thought.
No, the factory won't produce such a small number.

Platon,

Thanks. You are too kind. I was fortunate with the new movie this year to have the money needed to produce these new items. A year ago I never dreamed I could produce my own boots.

But just wait. I have many more surprises coming that I think you'll like just as well.

I thank the Lord above for all I have. I know that He gives me what he wants me to have. He's given me the health, the ability, and a wonderful wife to support me. Without those things, I couldn't do any of this. I love the compliments, but I know He is the one who untimately deserves the thanks.

He gives me only what I need. He knows that if I had a lot of money, I would become arrogant and proud, so he keeps me humble, if you catch my drift.

End of sermon. I just wanted to give props where they're due.

Todd

And, of course, I thank all of you for giving me a chance to serve you!

I must disagree with your assessment, Platon. You wrote
Hey Todd,

The "impossible" would be if Todd could offer his boot in ALL sizes including the extra large sizes like 14 and 15, and the extra narrow in B, A, and AA or even AAA and extra wide EEE and EEEE like Alden does. Simple dollars at work here. Todd will fit the majority of average sized feet, but not all. The truly impossible would be if everyone could get their Indy boot from one source. Some of us can't. It simply isn't possible. I'd say Todd is doing a great job, but hold off on the "impossible" label.

New Balance makes extra narrow walking shoes and tennis court shoes in men's AA width that I've been buying for years. The don't have very many style for me, but they have at least three or four different shoe models that come in AA. They also have C and D widths. I can find AA and A width dress and casual shoes at Allen-Edmond, Alden, and from E.T. Write, and I can even find one (only one) steel toe safety shoe/boot in an A width, in my 9.5 size and it includes A (9 to 14), B (8-14), C (6-14), D (6-16), E (5-16), EE (5-16), EEE (6-15), EEEE (6-15), and EEEEE (7-15). Also, Propet makes Mens' walking shoes in AA width. That's why I don't have any Nikes in my closet.

Work America makes a close enough Indy work boot with a moc-type toe stitching in B, D, E, EE, and EEE from 8 to 14, and I just found another work boot, with a lighter colored sole that goes from B to EEEE. Carolina work boots go from B to EEEE sizes 9-13. On another page in the B.A. Mason catalog, Work America leather service shoes and one boot goes from AA to EEEEE (yes 5E) and from 8 to 16.

So yes, the extra narrow and extra wide shoes and boots are available via both mass market catalog sales, online ordering, high end shoe stores, and custom jobs.

Right now I know of only one Indy boot, or close enough less expensive brand that makes the Indy boot in AA (and even more narrow, AAA, and AAAA I believe), so I buy from the seller that has my size. We may not be great in numbers, but we need to buy shoes, tennis shoes, safety work boots and boat shoes, too.

know what to ask for this time.

No sour grapes, just frustrated in light of paying for customs and to ship back from Canada.

I bought a pair of Todd's and after sending the first pair back for another size, I find them delightful. They were more than easy to work with on the replacements and the boots seem to be of high quality to me. I took them to a shoe shop to have the tongue stitched up to keep it from sliding, and the owner said they were a fine pair of boots. It's really a fantastic option for those on a tight budget. And they look simply superb. I would suggest to anyone to give him a try. This is off the subject but, how about an Eastwood-Fistful poncho? Keep up the good work!

I was just over at Todd's site and noticed in the sizing selection that you can now order size 13. Does Todd have 13's in stock now or is that basically like pre-ordering and you have to wait until the factory actually starts producing the boots in that size? :-k

I noticed that the other day Pitfall Harry. Maybe Todd will chime in here and provide an update. I know you are looking for a pair, hope it works out for you.

These are the most comfortable boots I have wore for a long time. And so far no issues with durability, I wear them pretty much daily. By far my favorites to wear.

The bigger sizes have been on the site for a few weeks now. I tried ordering the 12's. During the checkout process it says they are out of stock. Todd has said after the new year he will have the new stock. In the past he has said he does not like the pre-order route due to manufacturer delays and such. I would think when they are in stock they will be on the site. Looking forward to it, these boots look great.

I put the larger sizes on the site to reduce the number of "are you going to have larger sizes" emails I get. They're being made now and I'll probably have them next month. And, yes, the next run will be labeled correctly.

No, I'm not taking backorders on these. It's way too much stress on me to see a stack of orders waiting for this or that to come in. Sometimes people wait for months because of manufacturer's delays, and it's just bad for everyone.

As far as new products, all I'll say is no headpiece. I'm not going to get into headpieces or idols. They're all readily available, and legally actionable, so there's not much "upside" to it.

On the subject of the headpiece, the Noble Collection headpiece was made from a screen-used "hero" headpiece, which they rented for a very large fee from a private collector. I know this from a friend who knows the owner of the piece. I haven't seen the NC copy, but it has the best provenance possible.

I'm making major changes to the website to be more clear on stock status to make it easier for everyone. Just wait until you see the new design. You'll love it. You've never seen anything like it, believe me.

Oh, yes, Indiana MKVII, consider me "schooled" on the shoe sizes available from some manufacturers. My shoe knowledge is limited to what I find at retail stores, so thanks for enlightening me. I pretty much live in sneakers, so that shows you what I know.

Knibs, Todd is currently working on that problem. The current batch of boots I believe are labled wrong so you'd take your shoe size and order a size up, I believe.... :-k

No, I believe Tood took into account the mislabled sizes so you need to order your normal size! Confirm this with Todd and look back in this thread to see where he mentions this.

This means the biggest he has is stock is probably a size 10.

Actually, the sizes are technically 2 sizes off, but they are a roomy at 2 sizes up, so some find one size up is enough.

Yes, if you order online just order your size. We'll send you the boot that corresponds to your actual size. Don't go nuts trying to figure it out. The largest size we have is 9.
