Yup, its a classic!
Hopefully I'll be able to get a digital camera before too much longer. When I get one gear pics will be first on the list!

Indy Will, set that camera on something tall and step back from it, at least 8-10 feet. Makes for a much better shot. Just some advice. I always have the camera at least 10 ft away and at least eye level, if not a little higher.(see avatar)

Thanks for the advice, Prairie. I'll try and get some better pics up by the end of the day.
Best Regards,

Okay, just for giggles...these really are pictures of my AB. But...they aren't NORMAL pictures...see, I was wearing some of my gear today when we took the girls to the California Science Center...
First, guess what this is:
<--- Click for the big picture...
Yup, that's an AB as seen through an infra-red filter!
Lighter areas are hotter, darker areas, colder. So note how the sweatband area is so much warmer, so are the front dents, vs. the front 'triangle' and the outer brim...essentially, the further from my head it was, the colder those regions of the AB were.
Good even heat disappation from this hat, Steve!
(I was impressed how accurate this stuff was - my other girl, the three year old, her nose looked BLACK in the imagery...so I checked, and lo and behold, her nose was cold.
And it's off-topic a bit for this thread, but note how the Wested was maintaining a temperature range consistent w/ my skin temperature, in contrast to my shirt collars which had gone cold. Cool!)
Okay, now for a slightly more visible picture of my AB...slightly...but no less cool to me:
<--- Click for the big picture...
My AB as seen on an old style black and white TV projection.
So THAT'S what I'd look like in the Maltese Falcon...hmm...
My apologies for the contraption in front of the screen - this was actually from an experiment on the effect of magnets (on the rails) on television images. Funky how DARK the Wested looked, compared to the vast range of shades on the AB as it picked up the light and shadow. Why, in an old black and white image, my BROWN hat looks almost gr...nah.
So, there you are, Mr. Delk, your AdventureBilt Beaver as it would look on TV in the 1940's and as seen through the range-finder on an M1(A1D) Abrams Tank today.

I just got a mental image of how a couple of guys would love to be in the M1 with the AB in its sights!!

Great pics, Rusty! I especially like the one you are using for your avatar - the wicked tilt gives it an action look - even while sitting at a desk.

heh thanks!
(my school had a club fair one day at lunch, so I got the german club to invade the french club... long story short I got a couple handfuls of candy and a buncha stickers that said 'Superbe!' so I used to pull them about and go "SUPERBEE!" whenever someone did something I liked, until a ladyfriend of mine, whom I actually met in the invasion, gave me the correct pronounciation...)

The way one side of the camel humps appears to be shorter than the other definetly gives your lid a "Well of Souls" look to it!

That is the worst looking reblock I ever saw!! And I did it.
It almost looks like your head is a long oval inside the regular oval block. I am glad it was a freebie Errico!!! But, wear it a few days, and when you can, send it back for another freebie. I will wet block it the next time. Because I was making and sending you the hat for you mom, and because Xmas was getting close, I just steamed it for the reblock. Looks like I do not need to do steam reblocks anymore,(at least on modern felt) But, I seldom use just steam anyways. Live and learn I guess. regards, Fedora
