Sorry. I thought you were saying that my avatar looks like Sam Elliot, the narrator from that film. :)

No, no . . . I would recognize Daniel Day-Lewis from a mile away! And that's a great shot there from Gangs of New York!

I just can't thank Steve enough for this! He did a wonderful job making the adjustments to the hat! It fits great and its a big improvement. That's not to say that I don't love the hat that he already made for me, but this one definitely fits the bill better in regards to the Raiders look!

Steve, I think you somehow become more awesome at this with every new hat that you make!
:notworthy:

Daren, these new shots without a doubt my very favorites of yours that I've seen.

The HAT looks phenomenal! (Suits you perfectly)

Your Tony Nowak Jacket looks amazing! (The BEST I've ever seen of a 747 Jacket)

YOU look great, my friend!
I think you've begun to finalize your PERFECT Indy look.

Simply amazing at the difference an eighth an inch makes in that brim!! Live and learn.

By the way, the raiders block was in use, so I grabbed a new blank and sanded the block used for this hat down to the right specs. Started sanding at 10 pm and finished up at 1 am the next morning. But now I have two in his size which I needed anyways. I like the look of this hat on ya Daren. If you crease that other one in the CS style, you will have a CS blocked hat too! And if you push the front creases back to about 4 1/2 inches, it will pull the upper crown in, which will make it match the smaller brim a bit better. The thing about the CS block is as Bernie found out, you have to push the front creases back to keep the hat from looking too blocky. It adds radius too that is closer to the Raiders radius on the top/sides. A more gentle radius. Fedora

Looking good. Personally I prefer the back of brim flipped down.

The biggest thing that pleases me about this Raiders block is the back corner radius on the top of the sides. I FINALLY got that part right, at least my impression of it, right. I struggled for years to get this part more accurate. You can see what I am talking about in the number 3 pic. When I saw the picture this morning, I said to myself, yep, it's finally there! It actually shows up in pictures better than if the hat was in hand. My earlier radius was way too sharp of an angle. This one slopes over very, very well and I see this on the Raiders fedora, and have chased it for a long time. The secret turned out to be starting the radius lower down on the hat. That was the key. And was present on the vintage HJ LLS copied. I had just assumed this part had distorted on the vintage HJ, and like LLS, I corrected it, when it was right already. LLS has since changed his own blocks to take out the corrected parts of the blockshape. What sometimes doesn't appear to be able to work, actually will work! Fedora

I am so happy to report I sent over my order for a CS bashed AB Beaver this morning. Can't say enough how nice Steve was to work with, ESPECIALLY knowing how busy he is.

Between John and Steve, I can officially say I have been spoiled by their kindness. I don't think I have been treated with more care and respect for any other purchases I have ever made.

Pursuing THE two Indy Fedoras I have always dreamt of (a Penman SOC and an AB CS) has been a joy. I wish all purchases were this great.

Thanks again Steve. I cannot wait to see this hat!

I am VERY happy to hear you went for it thegreatgalling! I know how much it means to you to have a hat made from the same guys to the same specs as the movie hats! Steve's hats will absolutely BLOW YOU AWAY!!!

And you hit the nail on the head when you said that John and Steve are great people to do business with! Now only are they good people, but they make an AWESOME product!

Isn't it wonderful that this has become such a common observation for people dealing with these two great Vendors?
It's pretty clear that it's not only outstanding hatmaking skills that John shares with in common with Steve... These guys could write a BOOK on Customer Service (I mean... y'know... if either of them had any free time...)

The thing is about the AB CS, if you want Screen Accuracy to the film hats in CS, then the only choice you have is AB! Not even John Penman can claim that, as the only ones with THE CS Block are the guys at AB. With an CS hat made by AB, you can bet that you have exactly the same hat as worn by Harrison Ford... minus the liner. But who sees that besides you anyways?

To tell you the truth, I've been wearing it a bunch! It looks quite nice as a dress hat. Not good for the Raiders look (i.e. with whip, jacket, satchel, etc.) But as an everyday hat, it's PERFECT.

Here I am wearing it at the King Tut exhibit in San Francisco!

I finally took some pictures of my AB after two years (almost three) of obtaining it. I havn't had any special services (reblock, etc.) done to it, just maintence care (brushing, sweatband stretching, & water/stain repellent treatments). It's still holding up like a lucky hat should. Thanks again, Steve :TOH:

Thanks! I haven't had it very long. In fact, I bought this one second hand. It was originally a Raiders hat made by Marc. Then it was made into a CS hat by Steve. So really this is a TRUE CS Fedora!

Now... MY AB Deluxe from Marc is due pretty soon!

Ditto on the compliments DHW.

@jnicktem, that is one SMOKIN' lid! Have to agree with John, that is one fine profile. I have to agree it would hurt to sit on an AB deluxe :-0 , but heck, I decided to go with distressing for my in-the-works AB. An Indy hat is an Indy hat!!!!!

Sorry Ian, didn't see this. Not much time left on mine... maybe a couple of weeks. I decided to go with the CS, but with the 5 1/4 crown, and the "usual" brim dimensions. Steve said that the brim on the Henry was fine on me, which i'd agree. I'm going with the real deal, and getting beaver, I want the best, even if my bank account complains.

And to comment on these great lids above...Indy89 that hat is phenomenal after a few years...it has a great Raven's Bar look to it, and the color has faded awesomely (is that a word??)

And again Darren the hat looks quite dapper...

And Jnicktem...i gotta agree with John here we need some noggin shots, but the hat looks stellar, and I'd expect nothing less from Marc, or Steve for that matter.

It looks awesome dude!!! Just a tip though; The photos taken at arms length hardly ever show off the lid or the wearer to their best. When I do this my brim and nose always look massive and throws the proportions of the hat way off. See if you can get some shots from a distance using the timer or someone else. All this considered though - Great lid dude!! I've got a CS that's practically fused to my head. :)
