Actually it's too high to be screen accurate. I'll lower it with 1/4" yet, to make it match the Raiders Fedora just a bit better...

But thanks for the thumbs up!

Yeah the side view looks nice but the front looks like the old 6" crowns that Fedora used to do with 1¾" ribbons.

The raw body looks like a cowboy hat. It's good you're going to lower the crown height a bit, I think that's unusually tall for an Indy lid. Are you going to shorten the brim at all (besides what you're going to have to take off anyway when you lower the crown)?

All in all, I think you're doing some great work, thanks for keeping everyone posted.

I love a tall crown; it gives you a lot to work with.
That has the makings of an excellent hat.
Well done! Excellent side view. :D

crown height

I think it looks good. I think the crown height is an illusion, due to the lack of a ribbon. I want AdventureBilt 8)

Very good work Marc! Although the crown looks a bit tall a ribbon will make it look lower. :D

Thanks for the positive feedback gents!

Been studying the making of Raiders a little again and there's no way, that the Raiders crown was THAT high. Since I've got the original ribbon I can tell for sure (ESPECIALLY with the ribbon on). So my block will lose 1/4" within this week...

What you're looking at is a size 7 1/4" with a 5 3/4" open crown and a 2 7/8" x 2 3/4" dim. cut brim. I should have whiped a piece of ribbon around it, but wanted to show you the crown in all its glory

@Strider: yes, I'll cut the brim down once I've lowered the crown. That's where the extra materiel will go anyway.

I think that once the crown comes down to 5 1/2" the specs on the brim might just be a little too much, but I can always remove some later.

Regards,

Marc
