Thanks Mitch. There is just not enough good that can be said about that hat, in fact I sometimes find myself just absently touching it because it is so soft (but only when no one is looking ;-) ).

Here's the story of my rabbit AB. I received it last year, just before Christmas. When I wore it, I could tell something was a little off. I did some measuring and compared those measurements to my beaver AB, and the crown on the rabbit was a little to short for my head, and my head kept popping the center dent out.

I let Steve know, and he offered to fix my hat for free! I paid only shipping. I sent it back and asked that it be styled in the KOTCS style, and I got it back this past Monday. Here's a picture of it now, and it fits like a glove and looks great!!

Sorry about the blur. I still think you can see how great it looks, though. A steal at 100$, when I got it during his rabbit blow out sale. :)

Hey Strider,
I find it quite appropriate that you post a follow up on your rabbit AB considering you started this thread in 2005. Wow has that much time gone by? It says a lot for that rabbit felt and for Fedora's craftsmanship. That hat looks great!! Your hat came up in conversation between Steve and I when he approached me about the upcoming revival of the Rabbit Raiders. He was real impressed with how that hat had held up. Looks great on you!

It's always good to see another Rabbit AB pic. :) Strider, your hat looks REALLY good. I can't believe I've had my hat for as long as I have. Just seems like yesterday when I got. Boy, time does fly....

The crown relaxed on the last photo. Need to put a hand on each side of the crown and clap to get the boxy look out. That is what Bernie did. And make sure the front creases extend back to 5 inchs in length. This will give the hat a little taper, and bring it to screen accuracy. This crown can actually taper over time, and you won't have to clap. Fedora

Had this about a year now, been through some rain, snow, and sun, but nothing too rough. Thought I'd show how much wear it has. (as in none)

What's neat about this hat (and all well made hats, I'm up to 4 with a 5th ordered) is how after some wear, they start to mold themselves to you, absorbing some of your own personality into them, putting the finishing touches on (what becomes) a one of a kind item. A good leather jacket and well made shoes will also do that, but not much else. I'm waxing philisophical, I must be bored.

Dave, I WANT to write: "Are you kidding? I'm already down to only 364 days left before my 1 year 'Waitaversary' rolls around - this patience stuff is a BREEZE!"
But...
I realize I risk retaliation from some folks here if I make light of the wait.
:Plymouth:
Besides, as much as I understand the demand for Steve's Hats - as well as the time and care he puts into each one (sort of a "I'll sell no wine before it's time" kinda' thing) - I'm sure that when the Ides of March (2010) rolls around, I'll be chompin' at the bit just like so many good folks here...
;)
(Still, though... it feels GREAT to be someone who's actually got a Hat on Order that I can actually be Counting Down TO)
Cheers,
Fox

Not really. Keep in mind Steve is making plenty of hats for folks outside of these boards. ;)

Mitch, the best advice I can give you is to forget what day your ordered your AB. Erase it from your mind completely. That way, when it arrives, you'll be surprised to see the box and you'll be happy as a clam! Except that I've never seen a clam wear a hat. ;)

Date Ordered: 15 Sept '07
Date Received: 26 Mar '09
Total Wait Time: 18 Months, 11 Days

Well, the day has finally come!!! The white box arrived this afternoon, and there was the thing I'd been waiting for longer than almost any one thing in my life. At 23.5", it fits like a glove with little or no 'hat hair'! The photos say the rest, with my boy in the foreground, and my practically empty (pre-move) living room in the background.

The bash is all Steve's doing, as it survived the USPS better than some others I've heard about. I love how deep the side dents are in this thing!

Yeah, me too. This block can really give you deep dents in the sides. The only thing I would have changed, if I were Bernie I would have dropped the front and back lower to accent the top crease. This hat, the 5 1/2 crown seen in the film, would have looked better with a 4 3/8 to 4 1/2 front crease, and a 4 inch back crease, instead of the 4 3/4 and the 4 1/4. Although with that said, there are some hats in the film where the front and back crease is lower than what he specified for me to send. But, I see some that are the same specs as what I sent too. The lower creased hats look much better to me. The lower creases lend more of the Raiders look than the higher ones. If I could go back in time, I would have presented a strong case for the lower creases, instead of just saying "yes sir". When you see a hat in the film that does not look wide, this is an indication that the front and back crease was dropped down lower than I sent them, in those scenes. The hats that don't have a well defined top crease are the higher creased hats. Thankfully some creases got dropped which make for a much more streamlined presentation. So, what I am saying is this. If the hat looks too wide, drop those front and back creases down, and accent the top crease as you do this. Press your hands on each side of the upper crown and clap inward. You will get the film look when you do so on many of the CS hats. Since I send these out the same way as I sent them to Bernie, there is no doubt that he tweaked them, and he used alot of steam to do so. So, don't be afraid to steam the dickens out of your CS fedora. Part of the look is more than likely due to his mega steam jobs he did on site. And remember, Bernie actually learned to crease these hats after he went on set, and he re learned this craft while in N.M. I think once you wear these hats awhile, they will morh more into what you see in the film. Some shrinkage is essential, so don't be afraid of using steam to tweak you CS fedora into what you see on the film. That is part of the recipe of this hat. Fedora

Fedora since you recentley noted that the raiders hat might have been shorter than 5 1/2" if you get the deal for the next indy movie, would you change the hat to a shorter crowned one? I mean if you had the chance?

Yes, I would try and lobby for that. The 5 1/4 crown hat "works" with Fords head shape, and the max I would suggest would be 5 3/8. Then drop the creases down somewhat. At least if they were to use a block like was used in CS. But, if Indy does come back, and Bernie is the designer, I don't doubt him using exactly the same as he did for this film. Continuity and all of that. For me personally, I preferred the block of his gray hat, just block it shorter(it was 5 3/4) down to 5 1/4 to 5 3/8 with a 2 7/8 by 2 5/8 brim. I personally like the look of a larger brim.

To be honest, I highly doubt another installment. Took what, 12 years to get a script for the last film? I can't see Harrison doing another one at age 75. Not in a supporting role. Perhaps a cameo when Shia takes over the adventure. I could of course be dead wrong. And if I(we) are called to make hats for another film, I am savvy enough this time to keep my big Southern mouth SHUT! So, no leaks from me, if that were to come to pass. Fedora
