New Boots: LuosJiet vs Wested
Hey folks!
I recently bought a pair of the LuosJiet Indiana Jones Boots, and recieved them today. I figured I'd share a few pictures, just to show the color differences and whatnot.
Now, I bought size 10 Wested boots, but as LuosJiet uses the European shoe sizing chart, I wasn't sure what to get at first. However, after reaching out to their (quite helpful) online support team, I was told that a 43.5 would fit me best. Something worth noting, Wested boots are the normal "D" shoe width, and LuosJiet boots are the wider "E" shoe width. However, they fit perfectly, with just a little bit of wiggle room at the end.

Now, if you don't want to scroll through some pictures and would rather have me yammer on about the differences, here's what I noticed.
The LuosJiet boots have:
- a little more of a reddish tone (though it seems to depend on the lighting. Soft lighting seems to make them look a little warmer than cool lighting does.)
- a hidden grip sole, making them a better choice for hiking, or doing most things outdoors.
The Wested's:
- a much darker color, more of a dark brown.
- screen accurate flat sole.
I'll definitely report back after a while to show how they distress naturally, and my thoughts after a little time has passed. If you guys have any questions, throw 'em below and I'll do my best to answer them.

How is the leather in touch? Is it soft? Is the front part soft? Are they comfortable around the ankle?

The leather is super soft to the touch. The tongue (that's what I'm assuming you mean by "front part", if I'm wrong please let me know.) is a little stiff right now, as are the boots as a whole just because I haven't had time to break them in yet. They're very comfortable around the ankle, heck, the boots themselves are very comfortable. Though I'm starting to think I should've gone a half size smaller, but I'm going to buy some heel inserts to see if they help them fit better.

Any idea if it's a real goodyear welt, unlike the Wested's which have a false one (but if you write that in a review on their site they erase it)?
Yes, I'm still salty about that. They're reaping what they sowed

I bought the Lousjiet boots and MY they are so hard to get used to
I got close to blisters/friction burns on both heels and under my toes and blister on my ankle out of them so I think I need to do something about them. The side of the shoe sole digs into my ankle and makes friction wounds so I conditioned the shoe with some aussie leather conditioner so I hope it softens it up.

Their website says that they are, and from what I can see, it sure seems like it. I can see the stitching on the top and bottom so I think it's safe to say that they are.
I found out that Wested's boots weren't Goodyear welted the hard way - The sole seperated from the rest of the shoe and I had to super-glue them shut. Wested insoles also fell apart for me, wasn't a huge fan of them.

Let me know if it ends up softening them up, I might have to do the same if I end up having the same problem.Manwiththehat wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 9:14 am I bought the Lousjiet boots and MY they are so hard to get used toI got close to blisters/friction burns on both heels and under my toes and blister on my ankle out of them so I think I need to do something about them. The side of the shoe sole digs into my ankle and makes friction wounds so I conditioned the shoe with some aussie leather conditioner so I hope it softens it up.
