The one picture of the front right pocket (as you look at it), those scratches should blend in nicely with the dye.
Now this is just me and my opinion, but stay away from these kind of distressing, doesn't look like something that might happen naturally.
When you apply the dye, try under the pocket to see what the leather looks like with the dye rubbed in.
On one of my lamb jacket I used a light rubbing over the entire jacket to blend it in.
Those scratches, let those happen naturally of the course of the life of the jacket.
Seams, shoulder and elbows, cuffs and bottom area.
Once you've done that, live in the jacket, see how it looks and tweak as needed.
Are you going to give the jacket the water treatment? helps raise the grain.
Here's a picture of my Cockpit Vintage Roughneck Oil Driller Jacket and this is some tough goat to distress.
My goat leather looks darker than yours or it could be the picture, many types of goat tanning process I guess can make the it look darker, my firts Wested goat was dark like my cockpit.
Hard to see it, but the cuffs and collar area have distressing, but hard to see.
close up of the shoulder and collar, it's there but hard to see.

According to Bearbeast here which I bought it from it supposed to be goat yes.Indiana Croft wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 6:12 pm It is a journey.
If it still kinda blotchy, you may have to commit and rub down the entire jacket with the stain.
Distressing ones jacket is an experiment, if you look around, you see some good and some that went over board.
Don't go over board.
Oh and when you give it the ol water treatment, ya one crinkle up the sleeves, but ya gotta be wearing for awhile while drying.
The grain looks smooth, are you sure its goat. Don't see a lot of grain like my goat.
Here's some that S&J did on my truck chase jacket, I got the sleeves wet, you can see the crinkliness of it. what a word.
I just looked and I don't have one, but if you need it I can take one and post it.

There is some kind of white on the jacket now when it dries which I don't know what is but here is how it looks now.I think I need to weather it more on the arms and front and maybe on the back aswell.PS! Sorry for the blurry picturesIndiana Croft wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:09 am How’s the blotchness now.
And water treat makes the jacket a little more aged, lived in.
Now if you have to use the dye (not stain) all over, use the it in a fashion lie your wiping it on in small amounts, not heavy like.
Rub it in like, it’ll darken up some to, not so brown. As the original Raider was a dark brown like.

ThanksIndiana Croft wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 7:45 pm Does look great.
Now leave it alone for now, and watch how you wear it, you’ll pick up areas that you might want to hit lateral.
Now wear it and enjoy it.
Now for the next piece of gear, the MKVII bag with the leather strap.

If it's any comfort I will profit from your experience.Holt wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:22 pm I condition every 5 years or so and when I do its only light coat.
When I first got leather jackets way back in 05 or so I was so afraid for it being ruined, scratched or dry out..
Ahh... if I only knew back then what I know now. The energy and worry I could have spared myself for..![]()

Thank youWestern New York Indy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 4:12 pm Nicely done! I think you nailed the look of the jacket appearing lived-in, but not exaggerating so much that it looks unnatural. In my opinion, it looks very natural and subtle in a realistic way. Certainly better than I could have doneGood work
