Webley WG Replica

Post by davidishida »

I have spent many a sleepless night searching for a proper Webley WG replica. I own a real Mk VI, but of course i can't carry that out and about when in costume, haha). I have found many Mk VI replicas, and only one WG replica by our own Rook. At this point does anyone know if there is a currently run of one in existence or a place to get one?

There are makers on Etsy that list them from time to time.

No worries. If someone here on the forum has or is going to purchase one, I would be curious to hear about the "aluminum infused resin" that he uses. It sounds like an awesome prop!

Tanaka and the Japanese plug fire cap gun makers have been used fine resin with about a third metal powder for a while now I believe. The metal to add weight to the replica and to allow polishing and other surface finishing. I don't know how this maker's resin works but I guess it is similar. The replica certainly has a great look.

If I wasn't in the UK, I'd be seriously tempted by one of those.

Wonder if anyone in the forum has bought one of these?

Hello,

As I have te same question now, I started digging and found some archeaological thread to raise.
Would anyone have idea about a close enough, not 3D printed, gun?
Also interested, because if I find a good reference, I may be able to make a mold and cast it from resin with metal powder and bring a decent finish, even maybe buy original grips with bird head shape and make the mods, then the mold.

There is an "official" Webley airsoft replica, the Webley MkVI CO2 (6 mm, or 4.5 mm versions). I have one and it is really nice, full metal, heavy, has all the functions of a real Webley. Even has some nice markings.

Cheers,

Yeah I saw it, some are good, however it's a different webley gun, right?
So for now it seems there is no replica of the WG gun.
I am curious to know if there would be any interest in a resin replica

I’ve seen some people use mk vi’s before and change those out. There was a guy doing a decent replica of the WG a few months back, but I’ve had issues with his customer service.

Yeah, it doesn't have the bird head's grip and the closing latch/sight is larger. :-k

I think there are loads of guys interested in resin replicas. There are some available on Etsy. There were some even with metal powder resin if I remember correctly.

Cheers,
Bear

I would think a quality resin casting would get a lot of interest. The WG just hasn’t had anyone offering them consistently. Maybe that is an indication of a lack of demand.

that's the problem.
I have seen one in my country, but price is expensive, and if I try to make molds and casts, it will be quite en investment.
However, if nobody is on the WG market, it can be interesting.
I already mde some resin castings, using metal powder, the results can be quite good even of course not like a real piece of metal.
