Wested Legacy question
Does anyone know why wested only offers the Legacy pattern and one particular lambskin? I know they said they matched it to an original sample but as we all know the ribbed skins for also used therefore that's why you get the texture and the jackets and some scenes. I know they offered different skins and hides and the other Indiana Jones jackets so my question is if there's at least two different appearance of lambskin hides used in the original Raiders why don't they offer both versions of that had in the Legacy jacket? Considering that is screen accurate and they have access to both types of hides just don't understand why that's not an option.
Re: Wested Legacy question
I own the Legacy Raiders jacket and while it's a well-made jacket with a lot of screen accurate specifications, their leather choice is questionable. It's far too dark and too heavy in my opinion to be an accurate Raiders jacket. Ironically, I kind of like how thick the lamb is and think of this as a more suitable jacket for actual outdoor activities. It seems almost goat-like in it's thickness and texture. Personally, I'd love this pattern and specs in a thinner "cape" leather. THAT would be the ultimate Raiders Wested for me!

Yep. The heavy skins don’t drape right and don’t billow in the wind. Totally ruins the look.

What do you think would have fit the bill better with the Legacy hardware? Shrunken lamb?Dr._J wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 12:08 pm I own the Legacy Raiders jacket and while it's a well-made jacket with a lot of screen accurate specifications, their leather choice is questionable. Possibly or their standard lambskin. Just something thinner with more grain and character would be better.

I’m rewatching Raiders for the 1000th time and the jacket leather looks REALLY thing. I’m really concerned about the legacy leather though it looks great but is it thin?

Re: Wested Legacy question
Lambskin is thin ... but pretty durable. i've only had one (Wested) tear on me and i've had about 7 or 8 and only then because i washed it TWICE in the wasing machine. If you want that drape and the flapping in the wind accuracy its lamb only.
I've had horsehide and it can feel a little A - Heavy or B Crepey when its uber thin. I've also had oil pulled cowhide which is lovely ... takes a ton of punshment and shapes well ... but it is again heavier.
Even on the Last Crusade beach scene the lamb flaps around in the breeze. If i had to choose a jacket light wieght enough for the jungle and to keep me warm in the desert at night i'd go lamb again .. anything heavier is an absolute sweat bucket...
The Wested legacy hide is good, feels good and takes a beating .. plus the new version has much richer undertones if its distressed vversus the old grey brown lambskin of yesteryear.

I’m sorry I completely butchered my last reply. I even wrote thing instead of thin.
What I meant is I’m worried that the legacy isn’t thin enough to be screen accurate?
