Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
Hey all,
I've been working on my version of the dinner jacket from TOD.
The design is almost nailed down, but I am still picking fabrics.
It features:
-Wool Blend Donegal Tweed
-Full Liner
-Two Faux Leather Button Opening
-Two Faux Leather Button Cuff
-No Vent
-Swelled Edges
-Patch Pockets
In terms of the fabric, I'm still deciding, but want some input!
The color shift between the film grading and the real color of the blazer is quite different. Seems much warmer on film.
I'm debating between colors 2 and 4.
I would offer both, but I can't afford to do both colors with the minimum fabric needed, and production and freight costs.

New item, that is awesome, Adam!
#2 seems spot on, a warm brown.
Cheers,

2 looks better to my eyes.
Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
Agreed: #2! Very nice look to his fabric! Rich enough that one can almost feel it through the photo! W>

Agreed about the color. I'd place the buttons lower though, even 2 inches lower.

Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
We are increasing the overall length by about 2 inches on the final versions!
This one is the latest sample. It did use a different wool blend tweed for the shell, so it's a bit more brown to the eye. The weave is a lot smaller vs the tweeds posted above too - just for reference!

How do you estimate which sizes will be available? What price are you aiming at?

Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
In regard to sizing quantities, I'll be using some data from past orders and popular sizes.
I *may* decide to do a preorder on this to help with sizing and cost. The newer choices for the wool blend will be a bit more expensive, but I am hoping to keep them to higher mall brand pricing in line with the other Surplus Line products.

2 is spot on, very nice colour, solid tweed and a nice warm colour to use....Great stuff..
As was mentioned above, and as I said when you asked me too, I'd lower the gorge down a touch, but that's just about all that's needed...It's a great looking jacket and if you can get these done in numbers enough, I'm certain they'll sell easily enough to all of us!

It's a cool project... we were thinking of releasing a White Label Pankot Blazer, but if this is going to be in a similar price range, you can have the market! For now... at least.

Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
Hey all!
Thanks for the great response on this!
The adjustments will be the overall length by ~2inches and bringing down the gorge/lapel.
There is only one detail I was not able to get (at least that I can see with my eyes!) but for "off the rack" I think we will be in good shape.
Sizing wise, I'd recommend going with your regular suit size. I generally wear a 46 in Calvin Klein, BB, and the like and the 46 fits me quite well (220lb, 5'11" 46"chest, 36" Waist)
The preorder is now live on my site (https://karolian-dry-goods.myshopify.co ... eed-blazer) if you want to check it out!

Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
Hey Gang,
The Sri Lanka Blazers should be at my door in ~2 weeks! Thank you all so much for the patience!
There will be plenty on hand if you didn't preorder - the amount of fabric I had to buy was..a lot! Hah
I will post pictures when the final items arrive!
These will pair great with the new Classic shirts coming in, so I may do a combo price for the two.
Thanks!

Hey gang!
Amazingly, and somewhat disappointingly for the drivers, the blazers arrived on Labor Day.
They'll absolutely need a good steam out of the bag. Thankfully, the wool in the blend isn't too stinky.
Thanks to everyone who preordered and made this possible!
I should have some better pics soon - a friend is going to take some photos in their blazer.

Is there a release or preorder day for the Tanis suit by any chance?

Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
Glad you're enjoying it!
I'd still love to do the Tanis suits!
The hiccup is capital. I would definitely need to run a preorder for them due to the sizing requirements. That way everyone can order their jacket size, vest size, and trouser size.
So, I still can, but it'd require quite a bit of backing!

I'm interested in getting one of these. What does the back of the blazer look like? I only saw a front view on the website as well.

I can grab some photos of the back soon, but they are pretty basic in the back. No vent or belt. Just like the screen used blazer.

Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
I recently purchased a size 42 and while like most clothing, a little snug in the stomach area
But this is a very well made jacket, it's not Armani, heck I don't own an Armani. But it's a very comfortable jacket, nice soft feel.
I can't wait to wear it out and be like the only one who knows it's history.
Unless I bump into Adam.
I'm wearing the jacket of course, but also his new officer wool/polyester blende. Finally got them back from the seamstress.
Azuma's ToD shirt and I don't have a Bow tie, so IM Officers tie will have to do, oh and my Alden's.
Now if someone wants to come out with pre-tied Bow tie in SA, I'm in as I have no idea on how to tie one.
But this is one nice jacket, thank you sir for making it.'

Ah, getting rid of the ole' belly is not an easy task, my friend! But a bit of adventure (running from Thuggees or from the Hovitos) might just take care of it. Or a heavy whip cracking session every now and then.

Look good, Croft. Learning to tie a bow tie isn't that hard, plenty of really good tutorials online.
Seeing it out in the wild pushes me ever closer to pulling the trigger on one.

Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
Thanks everyone.
If you’re on a fence, I’d say go for it, cause the last thing you want is to make the decision only to find your size is out.
This is a very comfortable feeling jacket, you won’t be disappointed.
And a heavy whip cracking session is doable.

Yep, 42 is out of stock, not overly surprised, that is a common size. I'm not currently in the position to plunk down the cash anyway so all the better the temptation has been removed.

I know that feeling. So many things on the wishlist, too much stress on the wallet. Sometimes it's easiest if some of the stuff is out of stock.Indiana Jeff wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 8:52 pm Yep, 42 is out of stock, not overly surprised, that is a common size. Re: Karolian Dry Goods Sri Lanka Blazer
Well just acouple pictures from my recent DC trip.
My only regret was each time I was out and about, I forgot to bring my COW coin. (not really, just )
But I was wear my new Sri Lanka blazer, and cotton office grey/tan pants.
I liked the look.
And on our way to go home, the kids wanted to take some picture of the cherry blossoms, and my grand daughter had to put one in the hat ribbon.
Wore it all the way home too, just for her.
Over all it was a comfortable wearing jacket for the money spent.
Hats off to you.
