I aged my IMCO
I got tired of my IMCO lighter, which is the same kind as Marion's, looking always new and shiny with its nickel plated finish No matter how much I used it, it simply never started looking old or even used. That's not a bad thing, but it looked simply too pristine for adventure gear. I used metal plating, heat, and chemicals to get a nice and used looking finish. Didn't do any harm to the lighter. Here are two comparison pictures:
10 year old lighter still looking new
Antiqued lighter

Thanks, I really like the lighter better looking old.Swindiana wrote:Great looking piece!
Any chance you will offer them later on?

I can't offer any IMCO lighters, because the are fairly hard to get and always overpriced in the US and on ebay, and I'm not going to part with the handful I have in my collection. If anybody wants me to age their IMCO, I can do that.

You can buy the at your friendly drug dealer (tobacco shop) for about 5 € here. Or you can order them here for 3 € plus shipping and handling.

Try The Sportsman's Guide. I got mine there:

Last winter I saw them for sale @ Restoration Hardware. They are not for sale on their website, but you can do a search to see if there is a location near you.

Anyone wanting an IMCO, in a wide range of finishes might try here:

The unique thing about IMCO's is the ability to remove the petrol cylinder, for starting camp fires and suchlike. What a great bit of kit - more stylish than a Zippo, I must say.

Just so that you are aware, there is a 5UKP (Before shipping) minimum order from Pazyryk (See UK Nochex exception)ob1al wrote:Anyone wanting an IMCO, in a wide range of finishes might try here:

This takes a single Brass or Junior out of the equation.

also, on the IMCO website there was a .PDF file that showed an IMCO lighter with a bottle opener, does anyone with an IMCO have this style or is it included on all of the lighters?

The bottle opener is an optional feature. If anyone can get ahold of a few 6700 with bottle opener, I'll most certainly take one of them.
There are many IMCO styles you can't buy, because IMCO makes customized versions for clients who order them in quantity, mostly to use them as business gifts at conventions. They give them away like candy!
