That is priiiceeeyyy. I love Wested jackets, but if I was willing to spend a bit more, I'd go with Steele and Jones.

Yeah! My exact thoughts too! For now, I am perfectly content and happy with my Westeds! If given the opportunity and extra cash - I would go for an S&J! With that said, though... I would still also consider Magnoli, as I truly trust the works from his shop! W>

Yup, for sure, Magnoli is a great option too! I think S&J would still be my first choice, mostly because I have seen such praise for them that I am curious.WConly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:53 pmYeah! My exact thoughts too! Looks good, but I’m sure not screen accurate.
As far as price, I’ll drop the coin on a S&J any day, because of the custom and customer service.
Now, the Vintage Roughneck Oil driller jacket in goat skin grabs my eye for a very close match to the jacket Gibbs wears in NCIS, later in the last season and couple times earlier.
So will keep looking at it.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
Not a jacket for a cosplayer or an Indy fan wanting the highest accuracy. However it looks very cool and it does look like an Indy jacket. It's obviously aimed the casual real adventurer who flys planes and rides motorcyles, gets in the occasional bar brawls and also has a big wallet. I'm sure its a very premium jacket with high quality leather.

exactly, that's what I meant

It is that very jacket. Cockpit USA confirmed it on their social media a while ago.Indiana Croft wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 6:42 pm

For that price I’d go with a US Wings jacket all day long. Especially with the combo deals they have running right now.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
I like Cockpit USA. I have a couple of their jackets. That said, if I want a screen accurate jacket, I'm getting a Steele & Jones and if I want one with a traditional fit, I am ordering from Indy Magnoli.
Re: Cockpit, anyone?
Yes! However, if you do want a very functional and good looking casual jacket, get the Cockpit cotton A2! I have gone through two of these babies over the past 30 years and they are a great lightweight alternative when wearing a leather jacket is out of the question. And it still maintains the aviation cool looking vibe

Xmaster, ahhhhhh, I’ve been kinda agonizing over Gibbs leather jacket for awhile now.
Thanks for the confirmation.
N9w to think about how about acquiring another leather jacket.

For those who have purchased Cockpit jackets.
How is the sizing, run’s true or smaller.
My chest measure between 42 & 43 and based on their chart L is my best bet, normally when buying OTR jackets M is my go to.
Any help would be great.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
I have a horse hide A-2 from Cockpit in size 40. I measure just under 40 and the jacket fits fine. I have a couple of others from them that as S M L sizing and a medium fits me, so a large would probably be good for a 42-43" chest size.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
We shall see.
Ordered L because in case it’s to big I can send back for a M
They had fewer L, been watching and there averaging selling 1 every 7 to 10 day
And M haven’t.
So I figured go the size that there site should fit.
I’ll review when I get it.

New to the forum,
You can count on pictures. And soon as it should be here tomorrow.
And all kidding aside, I love posting pictures in gear, and this jackets linage, NCIS and I’d say (no confirmation) that this style was a base line for Indy’s jacket.
The vintage roughneck oil driller if it’s as old a style…." It just looks so Indy.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
I have received the jacket, three days it took, man that's a long time for a gear head.
Right out of the package and held up, you do feel the weight of a goat skin jacket.
Wish I looked as good as the guy wearing on the site.
Construction wise, this is solid.
Color is a nice dark chocolatey brown, with awesome grain.
Sizing is spot on, size L with my chest of 42" +/- feels not tight, plenty of room for a cardigan. (may take one this week end wearing one to see how it looks)
Sleeves are long, come down to the ends of my fingers. I know the sleeves will scrunch some, but I reached out to my seamstress who's done work on my other
leather jackets to see what she can do.
Sorry Mods if to many pictures, if yes let me know and I'll trim down.
** 9-2 I trimmed the pictures to make room for when I post the M it fits.
So what does the majority say, to big, just right. I looked on site and a M wouldn't really make much change other than waist dem.
I'm not afraid of getting this soaked and tossed in short interval to see about shrinking a tad.
Definitely will take alcohol to dull it down some.

Skin is nice. Waaaay too long though in the body.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
I agree, but a M is only 1/2" shorter.
And I don't mind the length, as I wasn't looking for a jacket the exact same as a Indy style.
It would have been nice if a little shorter.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
Other than the length, I think it looks too big on you all around. The sleeve length, as you mentioned, but the shoulders are too wide as well. I think it looks big in the body overall. I do tend to prefer a tighter fitting jacket and you may want the extra room to layer, but I think you could get away with a medium. If it were me, I would order a medium to try and then return one of the jackets. Spending $800 on a jacket to have to wash and dry it to get to hopefully shrink it to fit better is not a plan I could swallow.

I like the quality of the jacket Croft! I'm tempted to get the OIl Driller jacket myself. I'm a size 40" which going by their charts I should probably get size medium. It is longer in the body, but that's part of the oildriller jacket pattern isn't it.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
Croft, that is a darn fine jacket! I does seem a bit loose, but I guess it is not supposed to fit like an Indy jacket.
The leather looks to have nice weight to it, I am digging how it drapes, and the texturing is grand!
Cheers,
Bear

I’ve started the exchange process for a M, so xmasters when I get I’ll take any dimensions you need.
Just hope it fits better.
Seamstress will probably still need to adjust length.

Very nice jacket! But it seems a little too big.. I'd be curious to see some photos of the Explorer Jacket!

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
Well the general rule with leather jackets is to size down if you're unsure. They will stretch as needed with break in. Indy jackets -- the good and properly made ones -- are generous in specific ways without being oversized. For most other leather that's made on a more standard form it's best to size down.

Re: Cockpit, anyone?
New jacket in size M is in.
Much better fit, little long in the sleeve, but over night on the mannequin with wet sleeve scrunched up did the trick.
Shoulders a tad wide, but the seam is down far like an Indy jacket.
Took some quick pic's kinda geared up for fun, then couple with the gear off, just shirt, pants and the ol fedora.
Over all I'm pleased.
This will be a nice fall jacket as the goat skin is heavier than the lamb I'm used to.
Took this picture by opps, but it does show the grain.
And I swear, I've done no distressing, but it's already showing signs of light distressing, i think this goat hide will do very nicely.

Great looking jacket, Croft!
The wrinkled up sleeves look beautiful and, to me, even give it a slight ToD vibe. Overall I think that, besides the similarities to a normal Indy jacket, its unique features still look totally natural with the rest of the gear.
Congrats on that awesome jacket!

Thanks guys.
Two new jacket in as many weeks, that has to be a personal best.
But I like this and liked it the first time I saw it on NCIS.
Felt comfortable today wearing it to work.
