Displaying your gear

Post by LawranceOfArabia »

I wondered if anyone had some cool creative ways to display their gear? There is the obvious manakin option but these always look a bit stale and the stuff hangs off them badly and doesn’t scream adventure. I have a cool way of hanging the whole, bag and hat together but want to include the jacket somehow.

Would love to know what others do so you can see it all and have it looking sharp.

Welcome to the forum! I use a wooden hanger. I have the bag hung over it, with the jacket done up over the top. The bag hangs out the bottom of the jacket. I then have a couple of metal ‘hooks’ that are shaped - S. A large one goes over the top of the hanger. I’ve looped a whip up and hung it off the bottom of the S with a loop of fabric. I then hung a fedora off the bottom of the S. it hangs over the top of the whip, and covers the fabric loop and the S hook. It lays ‘flat, against a wall, or off shelves as I have it.

I wanted it to look like it’s just been taken off, and hung up until needed again.

*edit* The fedora is one I got a looong time ago. I think it shrunk as it’s certainly too small to wear properly now. As a result I let it gather dust on my ‘display’, which I think adds to the overall effect. I dust the whip, and treat it, as I use it.

Welcome! I have my whip and MkVII on a display hook, otherwise my hats and jackets are part of my wardrobe so they are in hat boxes and the closet ready to be worn.

Regards,

Not gear, per se, but I have an idol displayed on a shelf in my entertainment center, kind of low-key. I have a Maltese falcon on the mantle in the living room. Hat usually live in hat boxes unless I'm wearing a particular one regularly, then it lives on the coat rack, next to my jackets.

Got around to taking a shot (and editing it for stylistic effect!) of how I display my gear. What do you think?

Pffff, mine are a bit all over the house... Maybe I take some pics later on, when I get home. :-k

- the hats have a special closet in the hallway
- the jackets are inside my bedroom closet, with the shirts
- the whips are on a whip rack on the wall
- some props on my desk, as I play with them
- the airsoft Webley is displayed with my other airsoft replicas
- the gun belt and accessories are in another display
- the web belt in my sock drawer
- the boots in the hallway, as they are all I wear anymore

Cheers,
Bear

Some pics of my whip and hat "displays". For me it's more about storing rather than displaying.
