I came across a curious hat at an antique store the other day. It was tagged as an “Indiana Jones 7UP promo fedora” from 1984. Well, there’s no doubt as to the 7UP tie in, but it’d be the first licensed Indiana Jones hat I’ve ever seen that doesn’t say “Indiana Jones” somewhere on the hat. Given the variety of licensed hats we’ve seen, this certainly falls within the style spectrum of licensed hats, but the lack of branding…
I heard of them back at the time as a promo for 7up, but only photos. This is the first one I’ve seen in the wild.
They also had a really chintzy bag as I recall with the 7up logo.
Good catch!
I still have my cheap 1980s Indy hat made by Stetson. It doesn't have the nice looking liner and sweatband, but it does have a cool TOD label inside of it. They made a grey one at the time, too, and I had one until I lost it crossing a precarious bridge in the NC mountains.
This 7Up hat is a nice find! I had never seen one before- or heard about them.
Wow does this take me back. I remember drinking a billion calories of big gulps and slurpees in the late 80s to get enough hole punches on my card to get the hat they had for the LC release at 7Eleven. I can't remember what I had to eat way-too-much of to get the TOD VHS in 1985, but I did it.
In fact, my first VHS of LC came from eating probably another billion calories of McDonald's in order to get the tape for the *low* price of like $5 in 1990.

I have something similar from 1984. No liner, and the label on the inside of the crown fell out LONG ago.
I’ll post comparison pics to the HJ (my 84 hat is tiny) when the HJ arrives.
