Latest whip holder

Post by bearbeast »

For the last year I've been wanting to make a new somewhat more screen-accurate whip-holder. Or at least my version that is heavily inspired by the screen used version.

I already have a functional whip holder: triple wrap, with a metal belt clip, for ease of use, and anthracite snaps, that I sport when going on hikes in the mountains or long Forrest walks. As you can imagine, it's practical, but hardly SA.

So I looked at the pictures and decided on some characteristics that I liked from each of the movies:

- holder loose on the belt, so it can go through the web belt as well (ToD/LC)
- the end of the leather strip should be bent double and fixed with a rivet (Raiders)
- the snap should be located in the middle of the gun belt (Raiders)
- the metal fittings should be silver (all movies)

What is not SA:

- the edges are burnished
- there is a an edge groove
- the holder is double-wrap

I ended up with this:

And now my gun-belt setup is complete. I know this also combines elements from all the movies, but this combination is according to my favourite details from the gear in all the movies.

I am very happy to be a bit closer to having a full Indy getup.

Cheers,
Bear

It looks awesome! You're truly skilled craftsman :notworthy:

How about a photo with a whip in the holder?

Thank you very much, Tomek! :TOH:

Yes, of course, I don't know how I missed including one. ](*,)

Looks fantastic! How does the double-wrap work in comparison to the triple-wrap? Thanks for the pics!

That's the way to do it. Pick and choose and make it practical for you.

Looks great.

Thanks, Dr. Jones! Looking back, I think the triple-wrap is a bit overkill, but at this point I am quite attached to it, due to the adventures we had together. The double-wrap seems to work quite fine compared to it.

If you are curious I have some pics of the triple-wrap version here:

Thank you, Indiana Jeff! I think this choosing these details and customizing gear is my favourite part of the hobby. Making everything "my own" if you will. :TOH:

Using the best of your favorite attributes to make a one-of-a-kind and personal holder. Good call. Looks great!
