Disney Parks Replica Shirt
So Disney is selling a version of Indy's safari shirt: https://www.shopdisney.com/indiana-jon ... 9026M.html
Seems pretty close, thought the color's all wrong. It looks to be an off white color. And it's made of cotton poplin.
Thoughts?

Oh, my... I don't understand this. They have the right to sell it under the Indy name, they go to some trouble to get it right, but completely mess up obvious details. The hat they are selling was also not screen accurate if I remember correctly...

What I find ironic is the description reads inspired by the Indy 5 shirt, but this design is the CS shirt and the Indy 5 shirt doesn't have the front pleats at all.

These items remind me of the ‘cowboy’ outfit that Marty Mcfly wears in the 3rd Back to the Future films.
They’re representative of Indy, but not remotely close to SA. As said, ironic due to the fact it’s the franchise owner cranking these things out!

Ironic and a bit nasty, as they are charging a pretty sum for it. You can get closer replicas for that money.

Re: Disney Parks Replica Shirt
It's always a mystery to me how these products make it through the development and marketing process. I imagine there was a group in some conference room brainstorming these shirts and somehow came to the agreement that a white shirt would prove more popular because a white shirt is the most versatile in a wardrobe. As if they looked around the table and said, "Well, we're all wearing white shirts, let go with that." The people interested in buying an Indiana Jones shirt, or any safari shirt for that matter, are going to be looking for tan/khaki, not white.

White shirt AND contrasting buttons. They went out of their way to make it bad. I work in R&D and we have so many steps and processes in place, I can't imagine a product just getting to production stage like this.Indiana Jeff wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 12:22 pm It's always a mystery to me how these products make it through the development and marketing process. Re: Disney Parks Replica Shirt
Right? Like two different groups were working independently to develop the shirt. One group went to the LFL archives and looked at CS shirts and tried to match the buttons and pleat design. The other group decided on shirt color and decided white was the way to go.
What's going to be frustrating is if these shirts don't sell because they were designed poorly, Disney will take that as a sign there isn't demand for Indy merch.

The stupidity of this is that the shirt looks good and the details are there... but the color is nowhere near correct. If it was just a generic adventure shirt in off-white that they slapped an IJ logo on, fine. But they did their research to get the pattern correct.

Fair enough, though I since it would seem the shirt with pleats is from flashback scenes, I think of the Indy 5 shirt as the one without pleats.

Re: Disney Parks Replica Shirt
Yeah I'm never quite sure how Indy's shirt is supposed to fit. I had the idea it was quite a fitted shirt from seeing him in Raiders but maybe it isn't, and my Wested shirt I thought was surprisingly loose fit.
Colour-wise it actually looks pretty close to that pic of Ford I posted above, but I guess you can never be sure of lighting conditions and all that. The buttons are a bit annoying though, surely it's possible to source something a bit closer! Maybe the next run of shirts will change that.
Epímaco posted this in the Star Was Celebration thread, but there's a look at the shirt in the shop here. It is under bright lights though, and the dark buttons probably also make it look brighter than it is.

Disney Parks Replica Shirt
Traditionally, the Indy shirt is supposed to be a trim fit military cut.
I have an original Noel Howard and that’s how it fit
(At least it did back when I was still a trim fit…)
I think Azuma is the only one who has gotten close of all the others I’ve tried
(Sorry Mags, Ive yet to buy one from you)

Yeah, Indy's shirt was always fairly trim, most definitely in Raiders.... I'd hazard to say that it was a looser fit in CS.

Re: Disney Parks Replica Shirt
Mags and Todd’s shirt are/were trim cut.
Wested and WPG tended to run looser.
Seeing as this is a mass market shirt, I’m guessing it will be a regular cut for an OTR shirt so will be looser than a traditional Indy shirt.

Indiana Jeff

Not sure you could get much looser than the Wested one! I was a bit disappointed in that, it feels a bit costumey rather than a proper shirt, if you know what I mean.

I dunno, I always find those charts useless. I've found Disney's T shirts to be oddly all over the place with sizing despite the charts they post, same thing with even Tommy Bahama. But I reckon we'll know once someone reports on the fit.Dr. Nebraska S. wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 9:30 am

Re: Disney Parks Replica Shirt
That sizing chart is super generic. Medium shirts are always listed for 38-40” chest and 32-34” waist. That doesn’t help with how the shirt is actually cut.
I would hope that if the shirts are slim fitting they would have included that in the description.

Indiana Jeff

Re: Disney Parks Replica Shirt
Totally agree. My 40th Anniversary shirt has been relegated to a 'work shirt.' Not because of the crappy "Raiders" but because it's more of a belly shirt (not quite a half shirt), whereas my new one with the 5 silhouettes fits fine.backstagejack wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 10:07 amI've found Disney's T shirts to be oddly all over the place with sizing despite the charts they post

So I ended up buying the shirt, and someone here wanted to see it next to a white and khaki shirt, well here it is under florescent light:
On the left is a white dress shirt, and on the right is an unofficial Indy shirt from Amazon.
And for good measure, here is the shirt next to grey and khaki shirts from Columbia:
Also, for a good, snug fit you're going to have to go down a size from what you normally wear (For Example: if you're a Large normally, you'd get a Medium).
Here's me (bear in mind I'm 6ft 2in):

It's funny... in the early days of Indy Shirt hunting, many of us would have been over the moon to have a shirt this much off-white (we had this vision of a lighter shirt than is accurate)... but now I appreciate the darker ones.
In any case, it's not bad... but those really dark buttons have me wondering why?!
By the way... what size are you wearing?

Sorry, let me clarify, the shirt does not look too large on you, the fit is really good. What I meant was if you usually wear a large and this is a medium, I would expect it to look like you are wearing a size down, especially in the length where the sleeves would end at the wrist and the body at the belt line. That’s not the case at all.

Re: Disney Parks Replica Shirt
This would really depend on what look you're going for.
And what is the fabric content of the shirt. The site says 100% cotton poplin.
And what is available in your area.
When I used to do the NH shirts, I used Pearl Grey, but that was for all cotton fabric, and i experimented quite a bit.
That gave a really decent SOC look.
I looked on their website, and Sandstone looks good, but might be a bit dark if you use too much.
BUT they have made it for synthetics now, so it would be interesting to see hoo that works out.
