Cowboy Curl
Please, just what is cowboy curl? Any pics here? Couldn't find any. And, if it's what I think, how could I get rid of it?
Re: Cowboy Curl
This scene comes to mind first. The sides of the brim are especially curled up here.IndianaJustin wrote:Please, just what is cowboy curl? Any pics here? Couldn't find any. And, if it's what I think, how could I get rid of it?

Re: Cowboy Curl
Minor brim adjustments can be done with steam. If the brim is really wonky, you'll need to have it reflanged.

Thanks to you both.
That's what's happening with my hat. I was wondering about applying steam to it adjust the crown anyway.

Re: Cowboy Curl
Just be sure to keep the steam away from the sweatband when making a pass on the underside of the brim. My usual recommendation is s handheld clothes steamer.

Re: Cowboy Curl
You might spray it with a little water and iron it at a low setting, then slowly turn up the heat until you like the results. I'd do it through a paper towel.
Harrison is looking a little bloated in this pic. Haha. Must have stuffed himself at Thanksgiving.

This is a cowboy curl on a carbon grey Fed IV. I didn't do it on purpose. I accidentally left it in the back of a friend's car for a couple weeks and it got baked. When I retrieved it there was a cowboy curl! But I actually think it looks neat.

Re: Cowboy Curl
Funny enough my carbon grey Fed IV did the exact same thing. It had the cowboy curl for years, I didn't mind. Looking good!Arch Stanton wrote:This is a cowboy curl on a carbon grey Fed IV. Yes, the cowboy curl is noticeable several times in Last Crusade, and I like it. One of my favorite hat shapes along with the streets of Cairo look in ROTLA.KhanVader wrote:This scene comes to mind first. Re: Cowboy Curl
Always loved how this particular LC hat looks, less Cowboy Curl but still enough to shape the face and give a nice swoop to the brim.

Re: Cowboy Curl
My favorite hat style for the longest time was how the brim is curled in the Ravenwood bar scene in Raiders. It disappears fast but when he first walks in it's the tightest of any hat style. In fact how he wears his gear in that scene has always appealed to me. Only time I can think of we see the jacket zipped. Anyway that's the scenes I think of as cowboy curl.
