Through the years, there have been some fine offerings from a variety of makers and you may have a few leathers and jackets on your short list, as well?
Here are a few that kept me wondering...
One of the best skins that Wested had ever offered was washed goat. Their copper novapelle for a possible LC or CS jacket was an outstanding hide. The copper sheen in the sunlight was amazing.
Todd's Standard. Affordable entry in the Raiders category with a real flavor for the original., especially the first few iterations.
Gibson & Barnes Expedition. Possibly the best made of all Indy repros ever offered. It featured working action pleats with elastic bands inside the jacket. Tough as a tank! Despite efforts over the years to resurrect the jacket, has resulted in stalemate. I would still like to stumble onto a G&B in lamb. Great bargain if you could find one on the second hand market.

Wested new finish cowhide was always an early favorite of mine.
Ditto on the Expedition, though I HAVE one in black lambskin.

A WPG jacket you mean? If so, you may have already seen this, but Captain Westicle did a nice review of his. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5kuDrXHJyds" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Jackets & Skins wish list or where did they go....?
Thanks for the link. It looks like WPG may have reproduced a Wested LC, referencing the collar and snaps. Their first iteration was goatskin and they used a G&B as a reference.
Part of the dilemma is pairing the right skins/hides with the movie jackets. Repro makers generally pair light weight, more drapable (lamb) skins with the Raiders jacket, while the heavier hides (cow, horse) are generally used for the LC/CS jackets. Usually, a darker lambskin is used for ToD, easier to distress. The skin used in the current WPG would have best been used for ToD repros (darker, light weight). They went thin, darker lamb on a LC pattern, it appears.

I was actually able to pick one of those up a few years ago (ok, maybe like 7-8 years ago) on the Cairo Bazaar here, and I can confirm that it is probably my favorite hide of any of the Indy jackets I own! Post updated with (older) pic. I'll try and snap a couple more when I can to capture the texture and grain up close.Texan Scott wrote:Through the years, there have been some fine offerings from a variety of makers and you may have a few leathers and jackets on your short list, as well?

I contacted Wested a couple of weeks ago and and told them that washed goat was one of their best offerings and asked if they would consider offering it again. They replied that due to the pandemic, they did not have access to it, but would consider that request in the future. Washed goat was great.

I contacted them right before the pandemic started, inquiring about washed goat AND the new finish cowhide, and received essentially the same reply, so I'm not sure how hard they're trying to source any of it myself. I think we both received a 'canned' reply, Tex.
